It looks pretty neat, but I'll wait until we see actual pictures of it working in Afghanistan.

Why not just get a real Cheetah and train it for combat?

Anyway pretty cool! I hope they name it Ravage! Although I think Ravage was supposed to been like a Panther or something, not a Cheetah. Still, would be cool if they named it Ravage.

    Next we need is Laserbeak!

That bigdog walker is pretty neat, but fuck I'd rather carry my own stuff than listen to that buzzing noise it makes when it's on, jeez that would drive me insane.

The cheetah bot is a pretty neat concept, though IMO when they perfect bipedalism in robots they should upgrade their design to raptors.
To me that cheetah bot pic reminds me of the blue lion from voltron :lol

You fool! It's a cheetah! It's clearly Cheetor. Also, it's good to see that Big Dog (The first robot to truly horrify me) is going to get a robotic feline companion.

Realistically, I think this is probably a massive waste of government money. And I'd prefer if these kind of projects got their funding through NASA or the NSF rather than the Pentagon.

But I love robots and can't wait to see how it turns out.

I hope its vaunted speed turns out to be for real. All the enemy needs to take one out is an RPG round to a leg joint.

Really? Sell it to farmers? Laser gyroscopes, video camera sensors and an onboard computer, and they really think that poor farmers (are there any rich farmers anymore?) are going to use an expensive, clumsy beast like that, which they probably couldn't repair themselves, when a wheelbarrow or a drag-litter could do the same thing? I mean, from the video, that thing has difficulty just navigating a slight decline efficiently. Maybe if you put it on a leash? :D

The truth is, farmers have been using these for thousands of years. They're often called things like oxen, donkeys, horses, etc... it's like the old story about the zero-gravity pen all over again.

I realize soldiers carry a lot of gear these days... weapons, ammo, body armour... it weighs a lot. But is this really a practical solution? Still, I guess the money has to come from somewhere, and it is interesting stuff. Maybe in another 20 years, paraplegics will benefit from this kind of tech.
