I know SQ7/Allen, will get a major kick out of this.

I've been wanting to build a Robocop costume for a very long time, it had always just sat at the back of my mind, but after watching Robocop 1 and 2 last night, I finally decided to look into info on it and well, here we are.

I'm using a pepakura file to build the armor, you build it out of cardstock and then fiberglass the inside and remove the cardstock from outside. You then bondo over the outside to smooth out all of the rough surfaces.

I don't have any progress yet, I plan on starting on this in a few weeks. This is gonna be a long and extensive build.

    Thanks for reading guys.

Yea, that's the process of it.

I use fiberglass resin with the fiberglass mat, makes for a stronger builder, I've literally stood on one of my Boba Fett pepakura helmets once it was totally done.

The process of building with pepakura files is really fun, print, cut, glue, and then fiberglass and bondo.

No issues with breathing with fiberglass on the inside?

I've wanted to do this since seeing that instructable but more for weapons.

Nope, never had any issues with breathing. Once the resin is cured, it covers the fiberglass totally, I go in and sand it all smooth and put a lining over top of it. I've made many a helmets with this method and have never had any issues at all with it.

I would love to see pics of this finished helmet as well as other helmets you have made. I always wanted a Guyver helmet and wasn't sure how people made theirs.

I'll be starting on my Robocop stuff here in a few weeks, once I start I'll have SQ7 move this thread over to the actual Radicons forum.

I will see if I can dig out some pics of the Fett helmet that I build a few years back.

    Just when I thought Overhaulimus couldn't get any more awesome . . . .

I'd highly recommend you check out some of the guys' work at robocoparchive.com. It's pretty hardcore.

Just make sure to make this suit to fit me. That's all that I need to say there.

Heh, I knew you would comment on this sooner or later.

And no need to tell me that I'm awesome, I'm just a geek with a love of sci-fi and happens to build stuff.
