The only thing that's stabbing my eye in that Sixshot drawing is his stubby legs. Sixshot's got long legs, he's one tall ass motherfucker.

I didn't mean people can't say they don't like his art. I'm talking about people who are saying "he can't draw", etc. Either you like it or you don't, for whatever the reasons. I get where you're coming from with the defective product analogy, but a broken shoe is a bit different than art that you don't like. If a pen is broken, it is useless to anyone. If you don't like Rob's art, there are still some who do.

But I definitely don't mean to sound like people can't complain.

I think "can/cannot" is entirely subjective. I happen to think he can draw TF's. Again, he's not my favorite, but he's capable. Sure he "ignores" certain fundamentals, but doesn't every artist bend the rules in one way or another? Exaggerating certain principles and down-playing others is what having a style is all about. If you don't like Rob's or the Dreamwave style, that's cool. As I've said, I'm not that impressed with certain aspects of Don's work, but if I said "he can't draw Transformers", not only would it be untrue, I would also probably be lynched.

Only insofar as vision and the printed page have two dimensions, whilst the world has three.

Never having demonstrated a firm grasp of perspective or proportion isn't a style; it's an inability.

Don isn't my favourite artist by several notches -- but he has a range, uses it and expands upon it. He's choosing how he wants to draw, rather than not being able to do differently. If you can drag up some previous pieces where RR has demonstrated that ability, we'll simply criticise if the finished product doesn't match up to those, rather than concluding he has a way to go in art basics.

    Wow.

That picture makes Sixshot look like a Micromaster. My guarded optimism is on life support already.

Now that I've had a chance to go back and look at Ruffalo's old Dreamwave artwork, yeah...yuck.

I hope IDW starts making better choices (Don, Josh, Milne, Guido) soon. I'd like to see good Transformers artists drawing Transformers again for Transformers comic books.

I, uh...really don't care. I don't keep much track of this stuff. I just know who I like who draws Transformers. And, so far, Ruffalo ain't one of them.

He did a few pages of the last issue of the Joe/TF crossover. He did about a thousand backgrounds for anything related to Pat Lee. I believe, at this point, he's doing work for a certain convention that comes this month. But I could be wrong.

First open book is in January and whoever's doing Magnus gets announced at BotCon, so if he's available during December or before then (if there's already a script) you might be in luck. Guido might also be free.

Should I have added a "yet" ? :lol

You'll get there faster than I ever will, that's for certain... maybe start off with some cover work.
