bummer. I just "re-discovered" Sesame Street (and by re-discovered I mean forced to watch it with my kid) and it's very bittersweet because all the old Sesame Street guys are being pushed out by the new generation. I'm sure reasons like this (death/retirement/etc.) are part of the reason (you never see Kermit anymore, barely see Snuffalufigas, or Oscar, it's 90% Elmo now) but you can't explain this to a child. My wife and I still think it's odd that Mr. Hooper's death was the only one ever acknowledged onscreen in the show. And his store still bears his name, although come to think of it, I haven't seen them use that set in a while either.
