So Long, Commissioner James Gordon - Superhero Hype!
He kicked ass in Batman (1989)
R.I.P. Commissioner Gordon
Veteran actor Pat Hingle dies at 84 in NC home - Yahoo! News
Pat Hingle, best known for his role as Commissioner Gordon in the 89 "Batman" and its sequels has passed.
Turn out the Bat Signal for a moment, folks. gonna miss Mr. Hingle.
He'll come back right?
Damn, thats sad. He really was great in the Burtonmans.
85?! I guess it never dawned on me that he was that elderly. 60s, maybe. I'm hoping he at least had the chance to live life to the fullest before leaving in such a horrendous way.
Rest in peace, sir.
I remember a couple of other movies he appeared in, "Norma Rae" (1979) with Sally Field. My mother grew up in that Alabama town where the movie was filmed. Then "Sudden Impact" (1983) with Clint Eastwood.
He wasn't that awesome as Gary Oldman, but he did an alright job.
Wow, Heath Ledger last year and Hingle this year. That too both in the January.
Ledger before The Dark Knight and Hingle before the 20th anniversary of Batman 89.
Yikes! Both Batman movie franchises might be cursed
I don't even remember a Commissioner Gordon from the old Batman movies. I haven't seen any of them in awhile, though. Still, RIP.
I was at my parents house a couple weeks back and there was a movie he was in on tv, but I couldn't remember his real name, only that he was Commissioner Gordon. That's too bad, he seemed like a sweet fella.
The Curse of Coincidence...
rip dude...i liked that guy...i've been wanting to rewatch Batman, maybe i will now...
Also campy Catwoman from last season of Adam West died as well.
Eartha Kitt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Man, Batman franchise is cursed.
The Curse of Geriatric Actors!!!!
BUM BUM BUM...
I hate to be a grinch, but Eartha Kitt and Pat Hingle lived long, full lives. I am, of course, sad to see them go, but it's not exactly a "curse" to die at age 85. Indeed, it's more than many people can ask for. Heath Ledger's death was a real punch in the guts, but it's just a coincidence that he died in January, as did Mr. Hingle. People die. Nothing supernatural about it.
RIP Commissioner Gordon. He actually didn't have much to do in the Burton/Shumacher films, but I remember him from really old Clint Eastwood movies. Good actor, seemed like a nice guy.
Oh noes! I loved him!
That thread title made me think Gary Oldman died.
I honestly can't remember Commissioner Gordon from the Burton Batman films, but God Rest his soul.
I thought Eartha Kitt was dead already before I read news that she had died in 2008 (and on Christmas Day, too?). My Mom always talked about her in the past-tense. Rest in Peace as well.
