okay, I had my godchild over at my place and was showing him the collection.
he really liked Scourge, and so i let him look at it.

then the little dude hit me with a question i couldn't answer, so please help if ya can.

on the top of the cab there is a button that doesn't do anything.
i read that the G2 lazer Prime had electronics, so is that it?
and would that explain the 2 holes that are on the back of the cab as well?

for now, scratching the head like an ape man.

Yep, the origional release of the mold (Laserod Prime) had electronics in him. While the button was kept for the repaint into Scourge, the electronics that would have been activated by said button weren't. I'm not sure if the Japanese version had them or not, but I do know the US release didn't. This is one figure I wish they would have done a 6" Titanium of, to go with the RID Prime they made (hmm...could make for an interesting scratchbuild, though I wouldn't put any diecast into him, so he would just basically be a Deluxe version of the origional).

I was wondering the same thing, nice to have this cleared up finally ^^;; those kind of things bug me...just like the obvious battery case on the bottom of the White Falcon Zord that didn't seem to do anything...I destroyed that screw trying to get it out, not to mention the sticker that went over it lol

    Thanks for clearing that up

    Thanks for the info.
i am not even remotely capable of kitbashing or modeling, but i am always interested in the way things are put together or what makes what i got different than the rest.

now i got that mental itch outta the way, i'll bring the brat over and let him find you guys another question, lol.

Anyone ever try to transplant the electronics from a Laserrod Prime to a Scourge? Just curious if it could be done easily and if it wouldn't be too finacially risky (i.e. destroy both figures in the process) to do it.

Always bugged me that he had the button, but no electronics...

i know when the car robots version came out, and was imported, there WERE members here who did successfully transplant the electronics into him, not sure who they were or if they are still around.

i had 2 scourges, and one of mine had the battery covered GLUED closed (no screw), the other was just screwed closed normally.

Funny thing, he can be modded with electronics just like Laser Rod Prime. I did that a few years ago to mine. Then I traded him for a friend's Nucleon Quest Convoy.

It always pissed me off they didnt put electronics in him. They certainly didnt skimp on them with fire convoy and magnus, and craploads of figures from other lines.

The coolest part of that was the way the light was actually in his hand, making his sword light up. In the Laser Rod version of course. I guess that would have worked for his gun too.

It's a bit galling that Black Convoy and RID Scourge has all the parts for this gimmick, but they just didn't bother.

It's funny how kids pick up on those small details that we sometimes don't expect them to notice, or haven't even noticed ourselves! :)

To my knowledge Laser Rod Prime was the first, if not only Transformer to have working headlights. Or am I wrong?

i figured there was, but with that name change fad that went on a few years ago, and car robots being 8 years ago, i lost track of who it was who'd dun it.

And that explains the clear red headlamps on Scourge.
