Hiya people, I only got back into TF last year. For now I am collecting G1 (Re-Issues) and MP's. But now I might have found something nice, but different from the things I know. I complete set of RID ruinination! I know they're the Combaticons, but what's the what on RID? Is it good quality and stuff? And what would, in your opinions, be a good price for a complete set MIB? Thanks in advance!
They aren't trash or KO-quality, if that's what you're wondering, but the mold has seen better days. Price depends on which version you're looking at - Hasbro released three of them. Standard one with all the figures packaged separately, the Urban Camo Ruination around the time of Armada, and Desert Camo Ruination as part of Transformers Universe. Urban Camo's most expensive, desirable, and not easy to find. The original Ruination MOC is going to run you around $20-30. The only potentially expensive one is Mega-Octane, the equivalent of Onslaught, while the other four members are cheap.
Urban Camo? Is that the one with gray and black camo? 'Cause that's the one I've seen. Hopyfully my questions didn't sound too dumb. It's just that (aside from movie toys) retail rarely sells TF's here in Holland.
I have 3 sets: G1 the Urban Camo Ruination Desert Camo Ruination all three are fairly alike in quality. i didn't like the DC version, but heck, it was on clearance at Wally World (Wal-Mart) for 5 bucks. saved him for a few years, but gave it to a friend. to me, it was worth getting them all.
You also have the Car Robots (Japanese) version of Ruination. He's quite different than his American counterpart. He's also quite expensive these days.
I think it's worth noting the Urban Camo and Tiger Camo Ruination's Movors have dulled nosecones while the RID version has the G1 not-dull one. Personally, I'm a fan of the RID one, even though I have it displayed with G1.
ive got almost every release of the bruticus/ruination mold done so far...just need a g2 version, and the tiny KO and the japanese ruination then ive got them all...oh, and battle gaia....but hes impossible to find....i love the mold, and highly reccommend picking up any version...however, the matching color scheme versions look better combined, especially urban camo...
Urban Camo Ruination on the right, original metal chest G1 on the left. I also have the G1 Classic release (sealed), Car Robots release, and Mega-Octane & Rollbar from the RID release. I still need the other versions. Hopefully I'll have some luck at Botcon, since he's my favourite combiner.
http://www.ridforever.info/gallery/Ruination - Thats a gallery of RID Runiation. He was released in Japan a year prior and called "Baldigus" or "Vuldigus" there. The one with the yellow chest plate and parts is the Japanese one, the one with the grey chest plate and parts is the American RID Ruination one. There are also TONS of knock off versions of the Car Robots/Bladigus version with yellow parts. 3 different sizes actually, regular, medium, and mini. Possibly a oversized one as well. And yes, aside from some minor changes to the moldings, its the same set of toys as the G1 Combaticons.
Yes, that gray one is Urban Camo Ruination. He's also erroneously referred to as Arctic Camo sometimes. Probably the best looking one combined due to the unified colors, and an urban camo-colored shuttle looks less silly than a desert camo space shuttle. Didn't find it worth noting if he was looking at Ruination and not Japanese versions, but yeah, there's Car Robots Baldigus as well. Their most striking differences are armor color and the tank's base color, but the other members are in different color shades as well. Far more expensive than the standard Hasbro Ruination or even the Urban or Desert Camo giftsets. http://www.tfu.info/2001/Decepticon/Ruination/ruination.htm http://www.tfu.info/2001/Decepticon/Ruination/robotmode.jpg http://www.tfu.info/2001/Decepticon/Ruination/jrobotmode.jpg http://www.tfu.info/2003/Decepticon/Ruination/ruination.htm http://www.tfu.info/2004/Decepticon/Ruination/ruination.htm That's also the most notable mold difference between the forms of Ruination. Ahh, and a nice picture of those two Draven!
Urban Camo? I always refered to that as Snow Camo, no wonder I never knew what the hell people were talking about when they said Urban Camo version. Which one is the one with the brightly recolored parts; yellow, purple, orange etc.?
Bright colors = G2. The only line that thought a tank could be green and purple and still camoflauged
Bruticus > CR Baldigus CR Baldigus > RID ruination track down the G1 originals. everything else is a mild disapintment.
Personally, I very much agree with Wheeljaxx. Anyway, throwing CR Baldigus into the mix: Note that unlike the original G1 Bruticus, the later releases can combine their handguns and also store Onslaught/Dolrailer/Mega-Octane's ramp. However with the exception for very few on Baldigus, the later releases have no stickers; and the paint apps given to them in place of the sticker detail are very basic indeed. There is also some mould degradation (details don't look nearly as sharp, especially on the UC Ruination which also has a couple of fit issues), and as mentioned above Movor has a much more rounded nosecone on UC Ruination (which personally I feel really does harm the look).
there is also an oversized bruticus...ive got him in g2 colors...IIRC there's at least two other colors for oversized bruticus...
yeah...i havent seen one in forever...and when i bought my g2 oversized, he came with two left fists, so he looks funny...oh well....this thread is making me want to make a new bruticus/ruination display of all of the different versions...which also include 2 KO's....
To expensive IMO. I wouldn't pay more than 55-60 for Urban Camo Ruination. And while he's the best looking of them all, I'd say go for regular RID Ruination. The gray parts he has are more appropriate in color than the yellow of CR Baldigus. Plus his Movor has a pointy tip, not a rounded one.
