I recently was looking over my RiD toys the other night, and noticed that all 6 of Optimus' tires have 'split' at the seems, leaving them in a 'C' shape. All my other toys from that line with rubber tires are fine (3 Car Bros and Magnus). So I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem.

In any case, is the remedy just to super glue the seems shut again?

I used super glue on my RiD Magnus. Should fix the problem.

Out of curiosity, how many were split when you noticed the problem?

If you insist. But it seems kinda silly to me.

Also, General Magnus, did you glue the tires shut when they were on the wheels, or off? I'd think gluing them shut and then trying to put them back on the wheels might put extra stress on the seem.

Idk. I dont have any RID TFs but I think it might add some stress to the tires.

Splitting tires are a very common problem with RiD toys. I recently got RiD Prime and Magnus and both had some tire splits (Optimus's two front tires, one of Magnus's rear ones). Neither one was a complete split all the way through, though, and I was able to seal the cracks with superglue. They've been holding fine since then.

Did you glue the tires when they were on the wheels, or put them on after you glued them? Just trying to avoid putting stress on the seam if I'm going to glue it.

All the tires on my RID Magnus and Prime split open completely about a month after I bought the toys. I was very angry...

Back when I first heard of this (a few years back) I decided to get my Magnus and Prime out from their storage bin to check them out. Would you believe that some of the stupid tires split right in front of my eyes. It was so stupid. I just left them like that and returned them back to their bin.

Does anybody know if repro tires are a possibility??

Sorry for the necro post, but since this thread already exists, I didn't want to make a new thread.

Got my RiD collection out of storage last night, only to find cracked tires on my RiD Prime. Magnus is holding fine. Still haven't checked the Car Bros.

Some people said that they used superglue on the tires? I'd be concerned that this would leave a white reside on the rubber. Are there any other safe alternatives? Loctite or Gorilla Glue perhaps?

When this happened to me I used fishing line to sew the split back together. It looked good and was not visible from a side view. Just when I was feeling proud of myself for a good job the wheel split to pieces in multiple places. There is no good fix for this besides finding an equivalent tire on another toy.
