Well back from the dead, for at least two weeks... (damn, social service is killing me! only 3 more months though) anyway, some might remember my old RiD Menasor, based on TFMaster original (Rest in Peace old buddy). Its back from the shelf, with some improvements. Sorry for the bad pics, i took em with the cellphone, tomorrow ill take better ones with a decent camera, as well individual robot modes First of all, i managed to make a better Breakdown with the Roadbot Ford GT, so now thereĀ“s not two identical figures on the set, makes a pretty decent leg and the connector is excelent thanks to the way the head attaches Also, i found some better legs (Cap Bot fromt he Marvel Megamorphs) and the connector torso was redesigned (less heavier, more sturdier) Dragstrip got rubber tires but is pretty much the same as the old pics i showed last year Finally, the arms got better connectors, but i might need to find something better, since they are on balljoints and cant support too much stress... im open to good ideas. I might look for some neo shifters or something... even though im not sure if they are available yet at my country Now the main question is, should i keep him on the RiD line or add him to my classics once done? Dragstrip have a head sculpt based on the toy and Motormaster pretty much looks like the G1 anyway, Wildrider got an Xbrawn head and Deadend uses the Sideburn head (like TFM originals), still working on Breakdown though Edit 14/04/2008: Changed the pics, added Dragstrip & Breakdown
Yay! Glad to have you (and Menasor) back! chop chop! RID. The head, and chest, and the RID car still make it scream RID to me
classics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no matter what vehicle looks like, if the bot got some G1 resemblance it classics to me!
I say Classics too... and for the very same reason that Redline gave. The head and body look so RID... why would you want 2 figures in the same line to look so much alike? (RID Omega Prime and Menasor) Though I would also be tempted to swap the head for something more G1-esque. A Cybertron Megatron head would be pretty much ready-made for Menasor with those bull-horns of his. Or you could use the Magnus head from the Omega Prime and bash some horns for it. Nice job on the connectors. I was wondering where those upper legs came from! The combined robot looks pretty good! Good call on the Roadbot for Dead End. Curious why you painted RID Prowl black, when Breakdown was a white Lambro. zmog
Breakdown still need all the painting, its gonna be a white Ford GT with blue stripes (similar to Alt Wheeljack). Perhaps i "might" make an alternate head for Menasor, but i always loved the Omega Prime head in those colors thats what im thinking... Afterall, Classics Devastator have only some resemblance to the G1
Classics Dev was another try for Hasbro to make some additionnal money out of an abused mold. He 's got nothing that G1 Dev had and very poor engineering..IMO, 2 loaders, 2 cranes and one excavator. C'mon Hasbro, they could at least given us more construction vehicles. Anyways, I love where you are going with your combiner and like I said, if the bot modes are inspired by their G1 counterparts then call it classics if you want... In the end, call it whatever you like as long as you do a great job!
Neato. The proportions look good. If it's Menasor I would've liked to see a more G1...type of face to give him some obvious recognition.
Well added better pics I still need to change Breakdown head and some minor mods to the body (he needs a gun...), as well the whole painting For Dragstrip, i only need to fill that ugly gap in the chest with epoxy and paint Deadend is pretty much done, sans painting and i need a red Sideburn car panel/door Wildider minor touchups and mainly the head Finally Motormaster, minor touchups on the upper torso and the final painting. The legs needs some tweaks as well attachments for the combiner parts
