I am usually really good with these things but I cannot figure out how to combine him, can someone post a few pictures of how they did theirs?
Try this: http://www.tfu.info/2001/Autobot/Landfill/landfill.htm and I'd also post the link to the actual instructions over at tfracetrack.com, but both that site and the web's Wayback Machine are down, so I can't access it. Sorry! edit: Thanks, Seawing! I didn't even know that site had instructions. I must remember that for future reference.
Which step of the combination you are having problem with? He's a pretty unique combiner in that his limbs connect to one another via the dovetail joitns, then you insert the core/body/torso. Let us know what's holding you back I'm sure we could help here!
speaking as someone who has landfill and those directions in hand, that DIDN'T help. not a jab at you Seawing, just that i gave up six months ago trying to put him back together after taking him out of storage- the instructions frustrated more than they helped. with me, it is the chest piece. none of the pictures/websites have a picture of his back/rear that i can see how it all is supposed to fit. that would help.
I remeber I had one hell of a time with mine too when I first got it, then when I got the Devy repaint I couldn't remeber how I did it the first time with the Landfill set... agrivating to say the least. The istructions don't help for shit either. lol If I remeber right (and if I'm guessing at your problem right) you have to put all three connectors together so that they form a circle, and I think there's a peice that will go in center hole that's formed to help hold it together. I could be wrong though, it's been a long time. Here's the only pic I have at the moment, when the wifey wakes up in morning I'll get her camera and try to take some better pics, but I hope this helps.
Bless you. i was hoping to avoid the "are ya too stupid to look at pictures?" look from the room, lol. You got the notion about the chest piece right, but for the love of Pete, God, or Primus, i just ain't got a clue how it fits. this is like the one thing, ONE thing i really disliked about RiD. nice idea with the ball joints for posing, but parts flopping around made combining this mommafudger a bear. and....where in the heck did you get an all green like the Hulk, but still awesome and true to G1 Devy-like Landfill? that rocks. and thanks for helping. if i see you on A&E one night, I'll know you got that intervention...and start looking for your stuff on eBay immediately.
I don't think I ever figured out how to make Grimlock the arms. The instructions are just terrible for that formation.
He's a Universe recolor of Landfill, I think it was a Target exclusive. lol@A&E Here ya go, hope these help. I wasn't sure witch color would show detail better so I took pics of both. Hope this is what you guys needed to see, if not let me know and I'll do what I can to help you out. (oh yea, I was wrong, they form a triangle not a circle, but same concept)
Nicely done. After you've got the dovetails pegged in like that, there's a circular peg in Wedge's back with three little fins. The peg fits into the circular hole in the front of the dovetail, but with Wedge tilted at 30 degrees, so the fins line up with the notches. Once the peg's in, you turn Wedge so he's upright, and it all locks in place.
I used the instructions, which, admittedly, were rediculously complicated and managed to figure it out... not by following the instructions, but by using them as a guide. The only hard part was figuring out how to properly transform whoever was forming the arms... otherwise, I was able to figure it out fairly easily.
I totally forgot the limbs were interchangeable. I've always just used Grimlock as the arms and back and Hightower and Heavy Load as the legs.
That's how I prefer it... I think Grimlock makes an ugly leg... not to mention mine doesn't like to stay very straight. Of course, he is also the more fiddly and complicated to transform into arms.
That was a huge help guys, I almost have it. I am just having trouble with the arms bit now. I cannot figure out how to make his head even with either of the guys that make up his arms. In your last picture above, it look like you are using Hightower as the back and arms. I have done the same and now he looks like:
from looking at your picture, it looks lke you need to bend the"dove tail" piece of the figure you are using for the arms. I hope this helps... sorry for the crappyt photo's but its all I could do on the fly
Here's a Youtube video for combining this dood: I am watching it myself since i am still having trouble with his arms/chestpiece. I am in y'all's debt for the help. these pics help 10x more than the instructions. next on my to-do list.... build a flux capacitor using Engrish directrions from a Miss Clarol hair coloring kit.... thanks again for the great pics.
