They have reached a new, pathetic low with this crap.

Of course, most (if not all) of those videos are horrible and should be destroyed anyway, but still.

Well... that's just.. umm... Actually there are no words to describe this.

What's next? Are they going to start sueing people for singing to songs on the radio while in the car?

Hmmm... maybe I can lay claim to that idea and when they DO go and start the lawsuits, I can sue them for stealing my idea!!! I love the US "legal" system (too bad I'm a Canuck).

I'm waiting for the day when I can get arrested for hearing music that's been played at the house next door.

Ya know...if they could go after the person playing the music too loud for "innapropraitely sharing music" I could really get behind that :)  It'd certainly get rid of a few problematic neighbors and my commute would be much nicer without cars cranking the bass up so high it vibrates MY car's panels.... :D

Someone should sue the RIAA for being triggerhappy, ambulance-chasing, pointless assholes.

Bullshit. Complete utter fucking bullshit. IMHO, the ONLY time a lisencing fee should be payed is if the resultant work is used to turn a profit. Making money off someone elses work without giving them a cut isn't cool, but stopping people from doing creative projects in thier spare time on the backdrop of someone else's art is worse.
In fact, this is so much bullshit it cannot even be supported by the justice system. Don't music and dance videos fit under the legal definition of "works of parody"? Has anyone ever bothered to challenge one of thier C&Ds? I think that thier entire extortion ploy would end if one person just stood up and called them on it. Do none of the artists or people with cameras and too much time have the balls to stand up for what's right? Sadly I can't see them trying this in Canada any time soon, or else I would create a music video just to bait them.

That stuff is all over YouTube, so they're going to have an absolute field day with that. Absolutely lame indeed. Money money money money eh?

Heh. Normally, I never even watch those videos, but clicking on those stories just led me to watch a few of them. I really like the one with the two girls lip synching to "Hey."

REALITY - RIAA is unable to stop pirateering of music thanks in part to new methods of peer to peer sharing. The only logical thing for them to do now is go after YouTube users.
