ok, after all the problems with last years botcon hotel. I was wondering if a fan that is closet to the convention site could swing by and check out the see how the hotel staff is, check out the resturant see how the menu is, check out the bar. give the hotel a rating.

Didn't someone dump soap in their fountain in front? I'm not saying it's an excuse but sometimes you can only take so much from clientele. Especially when their workplace is disrespected like that.

As far as pricing goes? It's a Hyatt. Prices will be high.

Last year was Lexington right? I could sworn I saw a pic from TrickyDisco where the fountain was overflowing with suds.

Food at a hotel is always going to be expensive that’s just a fact of life. Last time I stayed at a place like that I ran out to a market and bought a loaf of bread, peanut butter, jelly and some other non-perishable snacks.

As for the slow elevators part.......umm...... I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but there are stairs. There's a reason we have legs. Peace out.

I'm just saying that the people who don't have to use the elevators shouldn't complain about them being slow. That and elevators are naturally slow anyways. Combined with the fact that there are a lot of people in the same hotel going to the same destination as you, there still really isn't a reason to complain about slow elevators. Peace out.

The elevators WERE screwed up last year; you push for a floor and find yourself going all the way up before going BACK DOWN to the floor you wanted.
And yes, it was 06 that had the fountain with the suds. I didn't have any problems with the staff though; they were very helpful and friendly to me. The award dinner did have food, after a fashion. It was just... awful food.

The fountain did have suds, but here's a weird and crazy though. Perhaps it was for cleaning it?

As for the staff, I never had a problem with them.
Yes the lifts were slow, but when you have to cater to so many floors and people pressing the buttons on higher floors and then giving up and walking there will be some delay.

I live in the Providence area and wouldn't mind

    **Service**
The hotels are two of the finist in the area. I've never stayed in ether one, but I've been to a few proms in the Biltmore and I found the staff to be warm & helpfull.

    **Elevators**
    Biltmore:
From proms, I know that the elevator is rather quick. It's also a glass elevator with a view to the outside overlooking the park out front.
    Westin:
I'm not sure how quick they are. It's one of the newer building in Providence so I would think they would be around the average for an elevator. They may be quicker though due to it being built with servicing the convention center in mind.

    **Food**
I wouldn't suggest getting food from the hotels. There are plenty of place with better food within walking distance.

I would just go get food over at Providence Place Mall. There is a full food court in the middle of the on the third floor & 7 resturants in the mall(most out on the frontside). You can find food there at almost any price point. All the resturants have full bars in them so there are plenty of places to drink. I usally will go to Dave and Buster's up by the food court due to it being like a big k Chuck e' Cheese. Also I think that Fire & Ice does a deal on thursday(maybe it's tuesdays...?) were $20 gets you dinner and a movie, and it's all you can eat.

If you want to go with the the "supermarket special" there is a Stop & Shop one or
two exits north of the hotels.

If you have any other questions about there area just ask. I live 15 mins from Providence and go there often.

What's the parking situation like? From the aerial maps and descriptions Ive seen, it looks like there's a huge parking garage connected directly to the convention center and another one in the mall.

The garage connected to the convention center appears to be cheaper than the price the Westin quoted ($16 or $18 per day versus $22), but will they let you park there for days on end?

A memeber from a camaro board that I also go to Wrote me this.

    Good Mornin'.......

When I head into the City it's usually to hit the Clubs or a strip joint. Once your downtown you can basically walk around till you find the club-bar-restaurant that suits you. There's always something going on at the Dunkin Donuts Center and the Convention Center is right next door.

Good restaurant,... the PROV (upscale - downtown )

Good club,..... Lupos ( downtown )

Good Strip Joint,....... Foxy Lady ( downtown )

Good Entertainment,...... Comedy Connection ( East side of Providence )

Once you get into Rhode Island; place your radio dial on 94.1 WHJY and you can pick and choose from what they are advertising. ( 95.5 WBRU is also a pretty good choice ) The cool thing about the Capitol City is that everything is within 5-10 minutes driving time - but parking can be a bitch if you don't get out early !! Have a great time !!!

I also have a few questions for someone in RI.

1 What time do the bars close?

2 is there a liquor store near the convention site? I might want a few for the room.

The suds in the fountain were on the local news, and were referred to as an act of vandalism.

You strike me as someone who is ridiculously well mannered anyway so that likely why you recieved such a positive response from the staff. Ultimately if you act like a hooligan you will be treated like a hooligan (i know this from younger experiences lol)
