This is my almost done piece for the boxart to go along with Thyvipera's Leozack custom. I've toyed with the idea of drawing other people's custom work for a little while now and this would be my first attempt. I've done my best to homage the original boxart from the Leozack toy from Victory.

I'm doing it for the RFTK auction which is in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation.

Thanks to Venksta for the tips from my last thread and I think it made a big difference. I'm very happy with it as I'm getting more comfortable on the tablet. I know the lighting is off in the render and I plan to go back to the flats and start the colours again, but I think it's neat.

Nice! I like how you show your progression of the artwork as well!

Thanks guys :) , there's still lots to be finished and cleaned up yet.

Thanks, I think it lets people see what going on in the picture more clearly for feedback.

Its far from perfect, but a step up for me to be sure. I was getting frustrated by the fact I couldn't draw a straight line, to the point I was going to give up on the tablet, but this is shaping up nicely.

I'm using GIMP at the minute, mostly because its free, but I'm starting to wonder should I try others, I don't really know the pro's and con's of the graphic programs.

Ah, ok. I haven't tried it out. As for straight lines, that's a hard one to master. Take a look at other artist's line work, especially those that use tablets. You'll probably notice when zoomed in, their not perfectly straight. :)

Studying others folks work is something I'm gonna need to do.

    Thanks man.

Update, spent this evening being confused by colour. I'v gone back a few steps to colour from flats again, though I'm still no convinced. I also did another based on the Autobot Rescue Force repaint. When I get back to it I'll focus on getting that gun done.

Looks good. As for the comments about program the GIMP is a fine piece of software. Getting a tablet or PSP/PS is not a shortcut to being good. Sometimes the tools are nice but only if you can use them. Was there a reason you didn't finish the weapon? If you draw things into the picture it's a good policy to finish them all.

    Thanks for the feedback :)
GIMP has served me well this far, I hope I didn't sound like I'm blaming my tools, though I've found myself frustrated by my lack of experience with them(mixing up layers and forgetting to save). The tools are nice to have though and I'm teaching myself how to use them, the results are far from perfect, but I can see progress. With luck I'll get more fluid, though I feel a return to pen and paper would do me no harm either. I suppose my only reason I didn't finish the gun was because I was having fun with it and wanted to see what I could do with colour. Hardly professional I know, I'll see about finishing lines off before I colour next time, so long as its the fun thing to do of course.

I liked the first coloring, I thought it gave the lines a lot of added depth. That being said, I look forward to see what you bring the next time around. :)

Cheers man, I'm gonna go backk over the original I think, a tweek here and there and I'll be happy.

You're very welcome man, I'm thrilled to be considered. But I would really like to see more artists take other characters, partly because of time, but it would be killer to see people's styles working together on it.
