Well, I'm kind of cheating calling these yard sale finds, but whatever... Yesterday morning I stopped by Ops_was_a_truck's toy yard sale and picked up a bunch of stuff... It was a yard sale, but I kind of knew there'd be TFs there!

... On a side note, he showed me and another friend some of the customs that he does - We need to pressure this guy to get up to Botcon and enter some of these in the art contests - He does some excellent work...

Anyway, I walked away with (all complete unless noted):
Checkpoint/Prowl set (I missed this at retail!)
    BM Strika
    G1 Jazz, no accys
    Wheelie
    Spybot Wheeljack
    ENG Slugslinger
    ARM Jetfire, no gun
    ARM Megatron, complete
    ARM Megatron, no accys
    ENG Blackout
    MW Mirage
Waverider (no axe, but 2 guns)
    ARM Nemesis Prime
    Obiwan SWTF, vehicle only
    Overload, no MC
    some Minicons, parts & paperwork
    Thrawn figure
    Mara Jade figure

But that's not all - When I got home, there was a message waiting for me. A few weeks back, I had bought some toys at a yard sale and they seller promised to get me in touch with his son, who had a lot more. (So, technically, it wasn't a yard sale find, but I got the lead on this at a yard sale.) They called and wanted to see if I was still interested... Of course I was!
I ended up buying a couple of boxes full of TFs, GIJoe and MOTU. Not really a big MOTU fan, but I noticed that there were parts all mixed together, so it was easiest to just buy it all...
    All told:
    Galvatron, Complete
    Omega Supreme complete
    2nd OS, with just track
    Red Alert, no launcher
    Shrapnel, comp
    Kickback, no gun
    Twin Twist, complete
    Computron, complete
    Abominus, Complete
    Eject, complete
    Ramhorn, one gun
    Overdrive, no accys
    Mixmaster
    Scrapper
    Scavenger
    Bonecrusher
    Beachcomber
    Slag, only missing gun
    Perceptor, stripped
Bruticus, except for Onslaught body & gun
    Skullcruncher
    Jetfire w/ parts, bkn shoulder
    Razorclaw, complete
    Divebomb, no gun/sword
    Rampage, no gun/sword
    Headstrong, no accys
    Ironhide, no accys, worn
    Various extra parts

Plus (With BC less then 2 weeks out, I'll sort this stuff later):
2 bags of GIJoe figs & parts
    Box of Joe vehicles
large bag of (mostly) MOTU figures + accys
Box of MOTU castles, vehicles, etc.

Cost was significatly higher than normal flea market fare (in the hundreds of dollars) but there is some nice stuff in there and I think it was a good deal.

Anyone else have any luck? (Or the floor is now open for "I hate Rework" comments.)

How do you do it? I've seen your threads and its just so damn cool you find these great deals. Wish I could find some, too.

    Those are some nice finds.

cool stuff rework, you are one hardcore hustler. I am a bit of a G1 loose salvager myself so I can appreciate all the random and incomplete hauls. That second haul is awesome, even if you paid a few hundreds for it, care to clue us in on just how much?

I tried street saleing for TFs this weekend for a first time, went to 5 street sales and a flee market and came up with nothing. (the closest I saw was an original mcdonalds tf).

It's always hit or miss when it comes to yard sales. I think this is the first Transformers I'd found in about 4 Saturdays of yard sales. You have to fight throught the droughts... A buy like this only comes around a couple of times a year.

It was in the hundreds... I'll just leave it at that for now!

Thanks for the offer, but I haven't decided what to do with those, yet. And I think the price would have to be higher than that because it cost me $100 to have them included...

    Right on, congrats.

I've been thinking about posting a little wanted ad in the local paper where my parents live in the country (rural Ontario) of '$ for all 1980s Transformers figures, pieces, and boxes'. They live in a very sheltered old rural community where most the people have lived in the same old houses since the 1980s, their kids have moved away, and they have lots of storage space. Sound like a good idea?

I used to do that here a few years ago. It usually only takes one good hit to make it worthwhile.

Rework, your luck astounds as always. I'm just glad that it was a 2005er that got the pick of Ops stuff. Looking forward to meeting you at Botcon.

Well, in all fairness, I was second - A friend of mine beat me there by 3 minutes (I still got plenty of good stuff)... And he's a member of one of the "other" boards, one we shall not name...

Nice haulage. i missed them this week. Hope to get some this week.

It's always nice when people put you in touch with other people.... especially when they are holding aces like those!!!

    Congrats!
