Haven't been out to many flea markets so far this year - Weather has been so-so. But made a few finds this weekend:

Cyb Jetfire - Missing one weapon
    Junker Cyb Smokescreen
    3 Constructicon handguns
    Ironhide/Ratchet red peg
    Starscream short missile
    5 Transformers books

9 Vintage Star Wars guns & some other parts
    Few GIJoe weapons
4 Diecast Micro Star Wars figures
    8 Star Wars figures
    2 ExoSquad Eframes, no parts
    Mini-Rock-em-Sock-em Robots
    Lego 7184 MTT, MISB
Case O' Legos w/ some early castle & Space figs

    Total Cost: About $20

    Anyone else have any luck?

Nice finds... did you know pretty much what you were looking for in the parts department or did you identify them later?

Do you use a field guide for any of your hunting?

I've been doing this for close to 10 years, so the toy lines I collect from my childhood, I probably know 95% on site - At least by line. Older TFs I can do from memory, but I still use some online guides to match up more obscure Joe & Star Wars parts with the correct figures, when I get home.

No field guides. Even if I had one, I wouldn't want to be caught using one. It would make it a little difficult to bargain with a dealer if he just watched you look something up. If it's in a book, most flea market dealers are going to assume it's valuable - What used to be a quarter is now a couple of dollars...

Being able to ID stuff from memory is a powerful tool when you are flea marketing.

If you're interested in exo-squads, I still have a box of them at my parents house. If you want, give me some time and I'll see if I can post a few pics of them for you to see if you'd want them or not.

Holy crap, I had that red Lego briefcase full of pieces as a kid. Gave it away to the neighbor kids some years back. Talk about a blast from the past.

I get into a mindset on stuff I'm looking for. Last year it was pretty much Star Wars stuff (older). Now I look for TF's. If I wind up in a huge box full of accessories, I might only know a handful of stuff and who it goes with (recognizeable parts).

If I had a field guide I'd probably carry it in my car. Then I'd go back and pick stuff up. Not much valuable stuff here... all I ever see are parts and junk.

    Update:

Bonus! Going though that box of Legos, I found a Jetfire leg armor clip (blended in with the red of the case). That's actually a pretty valuable piece.

    Sweet....

Wow... there's a flea market a little ways away from me, but one of these days this summer I'm going to have to go check it out... Too bad these days most things these days that might be worth buying wind up on Ebay... I remember enjoying the hunt for toys...

That's it, I'm going to go check it out the first weekend I have available...
