Last year I made three custom Revoltech Transformers, and now I'm back with three more. I don't pretend to be an expert customizer, but given my lack of skills, I'm happy with the results. There are plenty of flaws, but they look good on the shelf.

Springer was a challenge because of the complex head as well as the issue of finding ways to make him visually interesting. He doesn't have the obvious visual cues that the '84 autobots have, so I needed to find ways to make him look neat but still make him feel like Springer.

Ha! I thought about that, but I've never seen him use a blade in any official medium. Given his personality as a Han Solo-type analog, the blasters just seem to fit better. However, I probably should make a sword for him, for aesthetics if nothing else.

I'd be all over that... except where to start? There are no female base figures in this line... the amount of scratch work required for that makes my brain hurt! But that would be sweet...

Quite a number of times, but I'll admit, it's been a while. I have reread the '06 adaptation of the '86 film and LSotW miniseries, and there was no blade in either of those.

I know he HAS one, but I have no memory of him actually using it. The sword just makes him seem very ninja-esque, and that just doesn't fit his personality to me. He's not Drift, aka Snake Eyes. He's more Han Solo, and that means blasters. But again, that's just my take. Your mileage may vary.

Yeah, I'd completely forgotten that. In my head, he's the cannon-toting field leader of the Wreckers, not exactly a finesse guy. I'm thinking about making more Wrecker characters to go with him and Magnus.

I would love to see your take on magnus there was a custom resin kit of him made a while back along with shockwave but it would be awesome if you could find out a good bashing recipe

    edit: found pics http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XANLBDl73gE/THblPfGysQI/AAAAAAAAACo/4FxQPly3C9w/s320/magnuscol.jpg

Also some other dude on the boards made a real awesome perceptor seemed pretty straightforward it was half rodimus and half megatron parts you may wanna look that up speccially if your doing the idw twist on characters lol

    edit: found that too http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/297241-revoltech-perceptor-vers-2-a.html

I dont wanna sound rude also but i could i ask what parts you made springer from feel free to PM me if you dont wanna post it here but id really like to make one for myself sometime

No, feel free to ask questions about my stuff. I've got nothing to hide, no secrets! And thanks for the links. I like the IDW version of Perceptor as a sniper, may have to give that one a try. In fact, I bought the original artwork from the Wreckers mini of him hanging out of the ship upside-down shooting at decepticons. pic below.

As for what I specifically made Springer from... nothing more than a Hotrod base figure, a few 1/144 scale gundam model parts, and a lot of fixit sculpt. The head and chest are just made of fixit... my dremel tool was my best friend. I couldn't tell you what gundam model kits I used either. I just bought a bunch of cheap kits, and when I need a part, I sift through the boxes until I see one that will work... "Oh, that looks like it'll make a good kneecap..." Very unscientific and probably not too helpful. I do have some WIP shots I've attached below. Maybe they will help.

Thanks. The head was a major pain since I really suck at sculpting, but I just couldn't find any kind of donor that would look right. Same for Wheeljack and Sunstreaker too. Looking back, I guess that's why I did Mirage, Sideswipe, and Shockwave first... those three all had good donor heads.
