Could this be the Pat Lee based Prime figure that Kaiyodo canned 2 years ago? There was supposed to be a G1 megatron and a Armada Prime as well.

I guess Kaiyodo held back on releasing them before since they did not have a big line to support it, but with numerous releases coming in the revoltech line, maybe they felt this was the chance to bring them in!

Hmmm....if these ARE the sculpts from 2 years back, I think they will be retooled.
See the old sculpts were still using Kaiyodo's mono-shaft joint system. However since the toys were made of PVC, the shafts themselves were made out of PVC. PVC at times can be very soft, and as a result, a lot of kaiyodo's monoshaft toys, broke. I heard the Virtual On figures they did were the worst case, PHENOMENAL sculpt, horrible durability/plastic quality. At the time it would come to no surprise for one to open the box and find the figure broken out the box.

    So its been a noted thing for Kaiyodo and its one of the main driving factors for revoltech;

to come out with a line RETAINING if not improving the articulation it was known for, but doing it in a way that makes it more DURABLE and not prone to breakage. This is why the joints on revoltech figures look MUCH different than old kaiyodo figures and resemble traditional ball joints.

The tf figures that were using monoshaft were all using the old joint system, so if they are coming out after all this time, I think they will have the new revoltech joints. Heck I'd be glad if it was a Prime based on Don's work. If it transformed...whoa.

*btw I found out that pic that bbts showed was from figure oh.....so it was just a placeholder...but this thing is set for 4th quarter...so there is time to make the figure all new in essence*

Non-transforming versions of Transformers don't bother me one bit as long as we still have regular TF'ing ones. Besides its all about robot mode for me anyways and I usually only Transform my toys ONCE and enjoy the character/robot much more than a car or airplane :)

That being said, the Energon Prime sculpt was AMAZING and I was really looking forward to it. I hope this comes out and I'd take it over G1 Prime just because its something different and their take on this character makes him look really cool.

Actually, I wouldn't mind that E Prime, in Revoltech. It's pelvis could use a little toning down, though.

    Awesome. I'm in.

I especially love the sculpt of Optimus "back away from the last cheeseburger or I'll matrix you ass" Prime (hasbro=lovehasbro=love etc). That statue actually makes him look baddass!

Looks cool but I will be passing him up because:

    i) scale - I think the scale will be less than 6 inches

ii) Transformers that don't transform seem weird to me ;)

WOW! this is crazy!! I'd been thinking about these things for at least the last 2 weeks... I always liked the look of the figures and I'd never heard anything else on them and I was going to post a thread asking if anything had ever happened...

That's just cool AND weird :D

    Nope, they are just superposable.

Though I must say that E. Prime looks mighty sweet in his body builder outfit :D

It looks kind of neat to me. I'd much rather get that E_Prime though, so I hope somehow it still sees the light of the day, though it seems doubtful since the preview for that first showed in 04!

This is some cool news, Kaiyaidos line allready has some very nice choices planned and using it to resurect these (assumed axed) figures is a smart move.

For the record though I will be surprised if E Prime is released, his show is long since done and hasn't had anywhere near long enough to gain nostalgia appeal.

Ooh. I like the E Prime look.

A note about "HUH LOOK AT MY GROIN":

Take a look at most of Kaiyodo's work, and you'll probably see that it's a common artistic liberty the take with sculpting. Lotsa joints meant for certain poses, and the hips are often either megasplayed or pushing themselves INTO YOUR FACE.

It doesn't really bother me that much, but yeah. It's to be expected.
