This is the second of several G1 characters I'm trying to customize as Revoltechs.

If you don't count head-swaping GIJoes 25 years ago, these are my first custom attempts, so I don't pretend they are perfect. For these, I experimented a lot with sculpting, resin casting parts, painting etc. I certainly learned a lot that will go into making future customs better. But, these are what they are, good, bad, or otherwise.

    WOW...this one is....just....mindblowing

SO perfect. Might have preferred a Machinewars-Mirage head, so as to be a little more cartoon-accurate, but as a toy-based Mirage, this is just unreal!

Oh wow, that's just ridiculously amazing! Other than the head (which D/L already mentioned, I too would prefer a toon accurate head), it's dead on with the details! Umm...where's his orange box? :p

Ha! I thought about making an orange plexi-glass box, but I haven't gotten around to it. Maybe I'll add that to the pics when I get my next batch or revoltechs finished.

Thanks! I would argue that of the three, Mirage was the hardest. Custom casting the F1 car to make his chest, waist, and back was pretty difficult for a molding/casting noob. Not that the others were easy, but Mirage was certainly a learning experience :)

Thanks! I've got a Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, Jazz, and Springer currently in the works. However, I have plans for another 6-8 beyond that. Once I get started, I keep thinking up more and more characters I want to do, or I'm looking for parts for one bot and find something that makes me think, "Hmmmm this would be great for X. I should make him too." It snowballs!

I can understand that. I have so many ideas in my head for different Revoltech figures. I just don't have the talent to make them. I am looking forward to seeing Wheeljack. He was always one of my favorite Autobots.

Your customs really make me wish Revoltech would make more Transformer figures.

Of all the ones I have in the pipeline, I think WJ is going to come out the best. I've already cast all of the Lancia parts, and they came out great. Now I'm just working on the head and some of the smaller details before starting the paint work.

When you are done with Wheeljack, you can just mail him to me. :D

Wheeljack should look really cool. I would love to get my hands on a Revoltech Wheeljack. I am also really interested in how you are going to do Springer. Any plans to do Blitzwing and Astrotrain?

Ha, don't say that until you see him. The head will be a challenge to get correct, as I don't really have a good donor head for him in that scale. I'm making one, and it's going well so far, but we'll see...

I don't have plans for the other triple changers at this point. I started with only '84 characters (I consider Shockwave an '84 because he was all over the 'toon and comic), but then my next move beyond that was a handful of the Wreckers. Springer will be challenging because all of his defining features are in the top half of the bot. I'll have to work to make the rest of the figure interesting while still being recognizable. I haven't decided if i'm going to lean toward a toon, comic, or toy representation. Probably a mixture, truth be told.
