i recently rewatched DISTRICT 9 and was surprised how great it has held up.I truly feel it is a classic. Now that a couple years have passed how do you feel about it and its place in sci fi?

I thought it was fresh, and very well done. Still one of my favorite movies of all time.

I pretty much like it. It really surprised me because I was expecting another dumb alien invasion movie, but really hold as a good story.

Was a great modern day sci-fi flick. Loved it. If they plan on making a sequel they better have something clever up their sleeves.

If Alvin and the Chipmunks can get sequels, how can District 9 not?

This brilliant film deserves an equally brilliant sequel.

Thats the thing, id only want a sequel that could match the original in quality. Id have faith in Neil Blomkamp to be able pull it off though.

While the movie is great for sure, I don't know that it's been around NEARLY long enough to be bringing on nostalgic "look backs" and classic consideration. I mean, the movie's only JUST two years old.

A sequel is hard to do. The only thing I see possible is the aliens race coming down on mankind like a ton of bricks.

And honestly one thing bugs me and to me it´s a major plot hole in the movie. If a alien spaceship appeared over South Africa, the major world powers (USA, China and Russia) would try and get their tech. No way would they let a private corporation have it. They would threaten South Africa with force if it needed.

It would go along the likes of this:

    USA/China/Russia: Gives us the tech!

South Africa/Private Corporation: No! It´s our country and our rules!

USA/China/Russia: We are the top 3 military powers on Earth, we have control of 90% of the worlds nukes. We REALLY want that tech. You sure you don´t want to rethink that?

    South Africa/Private Corporation: ......

Realistically, this is what would have happened, lol.

But what was in the movie was just hypothetical. Still pretty good though! :)
A sequel would be nice though I would hope that it's not just another big dumb alien invasion movie.

I'm all for an alien war. I would LOVE a toyline, though. And a video game. Or some large scale articulated figures.

I'd love a sequel, but I'm fine with it being a stand alone movie for now.

I'm looking forward to his next movie, Elysium I think it's called. Hoping it'll be something special, just like District 9.

Yeah, his next movie is called Elysium; which has Matt Damon, Jodi Foster, and Sharlto Copley starring in it. It sounds really interesting.

Anyways, I loved District 9 and I hope Blomkamp makes a sequel.

I really liked it. The only thing that never really sat right with me...... fuel makes a human turn into an alien?

If I am looking at it wrong.. please, let me know.

It has something to do with a fluid that intertwines everything their species uses. It's more than just a fuel.
