This is a simple yet reversible mod for TFP Prime that kills three birds with one stone; articulated hands, better neck articulation and no more gap between the windbreaker and top of the truck.

    First, buy one of these.

You can get them at any place selling Japanese hobby stuff. They are around 600yen. The parts for each hand come on sprues and take minutes to assemble. Each sprue comes with extra balls for plugging in the hands. You'll need three.

The hands are simple. Just pop off Prime's original hands and the ball joints pop in easily. You can pop the old hands back in at any time.

Next, you'll want to pop off Prime's head and take the red ball joint out. it's attached by a screw underneath. Take one of the ball joints for the hands and pop it into Prime's head. then sink the post into the hole where the original post sat. The new post gives prime a LOT more articulation in the neck.

The post is more exposed in this first pic to show it clearly but sits further down normally.

The added benefit is that the windbreaker on top will now sit without a gap. The mods are fully reversible if you want to restore Prime to his "factory settings".

Aye, those are the same hands I used. They come in several sizes so i'll probably be outfitting Arcee and BB with them next. despite better suiting Prime.

Huh. What's with the dust in those last pics?

Unfortunately the hands are way too big to stay on in alt mode.

Would smaller hands be small enough to fit in alt mode w/o looking bad in bot mode?

^ Do you mean with or without the Battle Tanker addon? Without he's a Deluxe Class figure with very small hands... with the Tanker he's Voyager Scale and with BIIIG hands.

Without the Battle tanker addon. I have 2 G2 RTS Primes, one I'll be putting the Battle Tanker Armour on, when I get it, the other I want to remain standard, but I am really unhappy with the very small hands, its the only thing I dislike about the mold because their disproportional to the rest of the body, This is the first thing I have found that may fit my requirements. If some one could check to see if they fit and maybe some photos to just to see how they look..

Also found the hands here 1/100 Mechanical Hand 100 Square G Gray | HobbyLink Japan much cheaper than ebay

The 1/100 hands shown in my mod are WAY too big for the G2 RTS Prime. You'll wnat to get the 1/144 (I think).

Also, don't be fooled by the packaging. They do not have individual articulated knuckles. The open palm has four straight fingers which do not curl. The fists are included but are fixed pose. The open palm has articulation at the base of the finger and they are able to splay.

They are the only other size that you can get as far as I know.

Cool thanks for the heads-up, I have already bought a set of the 1/100 to try out, if they don't fit, I'm sure I can find a use for them somewhere...

Edit..or they can go on my TFP Prime when ever we see them out here in Australia

Man I would have loved to have had this figure with those hands. I am disappointed that I may not get the chance now since they are pulling the first editions out and replacing it with the mechtech ones. Anyone know where I might be able to find this first edition Prime, it's not in any of the local stores.
