This is Perceptor in "car" mode, is it still a car if it has tracks? is it a tank? a Cant? I'll call it a Cant, as in "Can't understand why it's missing a load of paint aps"

In cant mode it's got yllow front windscreens, and blue back windscreens, it's weird, and I'm hoping that a couple of washes, some panel-lining and drybrush work will make me like this mode better.

In Robot mode Perceptor does look OK, the transformation is annoying and he's in desperate need of more paint. I've also got issues with his head, which I'll get to in a bit.

The chrome is quite pleasing, the chest piece (which opens, a bit pointlessly), shoulder cannon and arm-knobs (tee hee) are just enough to set the figure off, especially in my collection where chromed parts are otherwise non existant.

Perceptors only weapon is his shoulder canon, which has limited posibility, much like the figure. The head is on a swivel joint, and the arms are seemingly based on the Sideswipe/Sunstreaker model, so if you like them, you'll like these.

    I don't like those arms.

The legs are troublesome, the ankle is on a ball joint, but the knee has a very limited range of movement, he's good at standing stoicly, but that's about it.

In robot mode, I feel he needs more guns. So I'll work on that.

The head, oh god the head. I can SEE what they were trying to do, the look they were aiming for, the serious scientist, but sadly the first impression I got was "special needs".

Side by side Kup is slightly taller in Robot mode,
    [IMG]
but in Car/Cant modes they're roughly the same size.

    Cool review.
Perceptor's vehicle mode is called a half-track, I believe. Looks more like a Cherokee with treads, but oh well.
The bot mode is less than inspiring. Specifically the knees. Lack of good leg articulation is nearly unforgivable in modern TF's, so this is a deal breaker for me. Yeah, seems trite, but I don't like the character enough to justify such a flaw.

I agree, knees are... kneeded (i love puns) and I just don't like Perceptor as much as Kup, if I got him on his own I may be more positive about him.

The lack of a hand gun is also very annoying.

From your photos, I think both figures would have
been greatly improved if they had been given each
    other's eyes:

That having been said, I'm still looking forward to these.
Does Perceptor have any unofficial microscope mode or is
that too much to hope for?

Agreed, these are two of the big releases coming up. +1 posts for everyone!

Great reviews by the way, I can't wait to get these guys into my collection. Got a spot reserved for Kup next to Rodimus and Blurr already.

Like that y'mean? (phone camera + Hangover = blurry, sorry!)

Displaying them like that really highlights the shortcomings of the Hot Rod figure, he looks older than Kup!

...it does look kinda cool though.

Wow....that pic brought back a lot of memories of the TF '86 catalog. I was actually waiting for this pic. Thanks! :D

Glad to hear that Perceptor has knees. I would've found that extremely strange in regards to todays toy engineering standards.

Can Generations Blurr snipe rifle fit in Perceptor's hands?

Yeah to be honest, seeing lots of pics of people's neo-'86 collections probably helped sell me on the Protector armor, to give Rodimus the bulk and posability to really stand out.

Robot mode is adequate, alt mode is horrible. Designs like these make it all the more easier to switch to 3rd party releases only instead of wasting time with official stuff.

ish, it's not great... but if you have Blurr you have a sniper, so Perceptor can stay as CAPTAIN SCIENCE!

Both modes are growing on me now I've had time to add paint and accessories, it's not PERFECT, but I can dig it more now.

The figure looks alright, I'll probably pick it up just to have Perceptor in my Autobot crew. However, the toy itself looks like a better substitute base for a custom I'm planning instead of Energon Snow Cat, so I might pick up two to keep one as custom fodder.

Also, if this is "Reveal the Shield", where is the rubsign?
