YouTube - Reveal the Shield PERCEPTOR: EmGo's Transformers Reviews N' Stuff
Thanks for the review~! Much appreciated!!
Best random cutaway gag EVER.
Still hate the alt-mode, but the robot mode is just amazing. Maybe someone will uncover a third hidden mode for a pseudo-microscope, but I doubt it - I just don't see one, either. Nonetheless, still super-excited to get this figure.
Great review man!
This guy looks better each time I see him. The alt mode is, of course, purely superfluous but the robot mode kicks ass so that's fine with me.
Cool...perceptor was my first G1 as a kid, nice homage....
Very cool review, EmGo. Perceptor is definitely on everyone's want list, including my own.
Looking even better than I already thought he did. I like the chrome on the chest..it's not random or bad looking like most of Takara's Henkei chrome placement!
Definitely one of the bots I'm anticipating most! I also don't see what's wrong with the altmode: it's more or less a research truck, with tracks to access some rough areas. He's not a microscope, but I feel this fits Perceptor almost as good!
The MR designation could be from his original microman toy where he was called 'Microscope Robo'??
The microscope mode seems a bit redundant these days, the real type/size microscope made sense in the original microman microchange line but as soon as that was thrown into TF land it made less sense and even less in a current line of toys. I do like the microscope bits that have been included, an interesting set of evolutionary vestiges in chrome! brilliant on the G1 weapons working with him!
very nice looking figure, surprised with the chrome. head sculpt looks very good! i am sure someone can find a way to transform him into a microscope.
I like the robot mode but the alt mode is bloody awful.
I accept a microscope wouldn't really work but I think it looks like the designers couldn't make up their mind to go with a full tracked military type vehicle or a SUV.
heres how i see it. kids are playing with these toys and the parents are buying them. word is "playing", not collectors sticking them on the shelf.
you think kids today would buy a toy that transforms into a microscope? i really doubt it. how boring. they would have had to make this a triple changer like his g1 counterpart.
its nice to get little g1 nods if you care that much, i dont, but from a kids perspective which the toys are aimed at, probably though about the microscope mode and figured most kids wouldnt care. they dont know perceptor anyways for the most part.
on that note, i eagerly await the reflector repaint.
kids today would think 'why the heck does this turn into a microscope??' Looking at the toys history it makes sense as the 'hidden on a shelf' alt mode for a tank /robot for a tiny microman (ie they were supposed to be tiny in 'real' life) but makes no sense in the current TF universe. perhaps an opening rear of the truck with a telescope could have been a kind of reversing of the idea!
*shrug* Half track vehicles are real things.
For f's sake : it's clearly a geodesic / seismic research vehicle with a probe on top and the treads underneath to traverse difficult terrain on any rough planet. What's so difficulty to understand about that ?
The scientific theme is still very much in there.
I'm much less confused about the alt mode than I am about this not being on the news page. This is the first review is't it?
The chest fold down suggests at least a partial microscope mode. Excited to get m hands on one and fiddle with it!
Perceptor could also represent a vehicle with after-market modifications: 175 Series - MATTRACKS rubber track conversions systems for 4x4 vehicles Regardless, it makes the vehicle mode able to cover more difficult and unimproved terrain, which also happens to work out equally for remote research trips, or taking up sniping positions, depending how you like your Perceptor to play.
It's not a microscope, but this vehicle mode DOES make sense.
No shit Sherlock.
It still looks crappy.
This mode suits Reflector much better than Perceptor.
Emgo316 you done it again, Perceptor rocks. and like always. Your reviews are the "BOMB"
yay it is the return of chrome to non masterpiece toys for hasbro! i wonder how takara's version gonna be differant then.
