Guess Marvel is out ideas. Time travel? It's been done. Cool Alex Ross pic though. http://www.marvel.com/news/comicstories.1390.Avengers~slash~Invaders%3A_The_Return_Revealed?utm_campaign=front+page+tracking&utm_source=main+graphic&utm_medium=graphic+text+link&utm_content=%2Fnews%2Fcomicstories.1390.Avengers%257Eslash%257EInvaders%253A_The_Return_Revealed
Reading the article, it doesn't look like a proper return of Captain America, the "Return" just seems to be the "return" of the Invaders of which Cap was a part of so we'll see him before his prime, but it's not the proper Cap. He'll come back eventually, this wont be the way though.
I just a back story for events from WWII. Not current continuiity. But it will fit into the MARVEL U. 2007....Cap is still very dead. And currently in a coffin at the bottom of the sea under the undisturbed care of Namor & Atlantis.
That...actually sounds kinda cool. And it sounds like the idea of zapping the '40s/WWII Invaders to the modern era has been kicking around since before they killed off modern Cap; this just makes it more interesting. And besides...Alex Ross could draw a white sheet of paper blowing across the Siberian landscape and it would look good.
He's not returning it's an Avengers/Invaders crossover so the returning cap is from 1940's and in current continuity after the crossover he will still be dead.
After reading the article, it sounds kinda cool. I mean it's not going to be the same Cap. It'll be interesting to see how he interacts with the people of today like Iron Man and Bucky.
Yeah, having looked at the actual story idea it seems pretty neat. The Invaders (to my very tertiary knowledge) haven't had much exposure in terms of their history, for a while. I'll flip through it at the shop. I just hope this time-displacement goes better than Captain Marvel's. >.<
Ok, lessee, Cap of old comes to present day, discovers he's dead, and how he dies, then when he goes back makes sure to avoid that courthouse, so it's like he's never died? I can see it going that way.
You know, with all of this time travel stuff going on in the Marvel Universe, it's a good thing that there's not a Doc Brown in Marvel because he'd probably have a stroke right now.
Cap was replaced by a Skrull to help mess with Marvel U some time ago but alas the memory implants of the real Steve Rogers was too strong and it overwhelmed him, thus making the Skrull think he was the real deal. It was the Skrull that died at the end of Civil War and not the real Cap whom has been in status somewhere off panel. Skrulls that underwent genetic augmentation no longer revert to the original forms when dead. this was established back in 1999 when they killed Wolverine only to have it be a Skrull when Wolvie was abducted and mind-fucked by Apcolypse... plus it ties in to the revenge plot set in Illuminati #1 that the Skrull king wanted against the the heros of Marvel U. There, problem solved. Now to make Iron Man a hero before the movie comes out. I think having him get drunk and kill some super villians sounds good.
Sounds like the usual lot of Marvel BS to me. I'm liking the direction that Captain America is going, but can't wait for the proper return of him whenever his movie gets closer.
