2016 Highlights


Our first guest for 2017 is voice actor Arthur Burghardt! Arthur is best known to TF fans as the voice of Devastator in the G1 Transformers cartoon by Marvel Sunbow. He also well known for voicing Destro on GI Joe, plus Turbo on Challenge of the GoBots, and other notable characters.

Hotrod, Arcee, Rumble, Unicron, Spike, Soundwave, Bumblebee, and a Quintesson have been brought together by the power of rock ‘n’ roll. Together, they form:

The Cybertronic Spree!



Known across the galaxy for having cast aside their warring factions for the sake of entertainment, the band has put together a wide repertoire of music for the enjoyment of all sentient beings! Most notably they perform songs from The Transformers: The Movie (1986) animated feature film. But they also rock tunes from hit retro films, cartoons, video games, and more- all at full volume!

These rockstars in disguise blend their love for 80’s metal into an unforgettable live show. It’s your cartoon childhood coming back to whack you in the face with awesome!

The Cybertronic Spree will be attending Retro Con early in the day on Saturday as convention guests, where fans can meet with them and purchase band-related merchandise. They’ll also be holding a Q&A in the panel area on Saturday (times to be determined).

But of course we can’t stop there! The Cybertronic Spree will also be performing an hour long concert that Saturday night (October 14th) at 8pm at the nearby Arnold’s Family Fun Center!

**Please note, concert tickets will be a separate fee from the convention! They will be very affordably priced and will be put online soon!**

Our next guest for Retro Con 2017 is voice actor Rob Paulsen!

​

Rob is well known for his work as Raphael on the original TMNT series, and is also the voice of Donatello on the newest incarnation of the show on Nickelodeon. Other notable roles for Rob include Yakko Warner from Animaniacs, Pinky from Pinky and the Brain, and Tripwire & Snow Job on GI Joe.










And for Transformers fans, Rob was the voice of Slingshot and Air Raid on the G1 cartoon series!

We've got over 215 tables of toys, collectibles & art for sale, several distinguished guests, a Saturday night concert featuring the Cybertronic Spree, replicas of famous TV & movie cars, a free play arcade, costumes & costume groups, raffles, panels, displays, contests, and an atmosphere all our own!

We've got well known dealers from TFW2005 coming to the show such at 215Toyz and RK Toy & Hobby. And we'll also have the NECA store on the show floor, who are having a massive warehouse sale!

Arthur Burghardt, still have yet to meet him, might have more time in October to go to an out-of-state convention, but i'll have to see.

 

His first ever convention appearance was in California at Long Beach Comic Con 2016. If you can't see him at Retron Con this year he is also scheduled to appear at Sac Toy Con 2018 in Sacramento, California.

 

awesome, when is Sac Toy Con? is it going to be early 2018? another thing i'm considering, this isn't Transformers related, but i'm thinking of saving up money to go to my first out of the country Convention, it's gonna be in the U.K., in Manchester, reason why is because David Prowse is gonna be there, and it's going to be his last ever convention appearance, he is sadly retiring from attending Cons due to declining health, heard he is developing Alzheimers.

I spoke to Michael Bell on facebook, he said his next convention will be FLA, I don't know what that stands for, does it stand for Florida? wasn't that specific.

Can't wait to go the convention tomorrow.   It'll be my first time at Retrocon this year.

 

Don't we usually have a vendor setup e-mail at this point? I was able to receive e-mails from the retrocons.com domain as late as May so I don't think it's on my end. NJCC did this lateral move to FaceBook that threw me but that doesn't look to be the case here either.
