I have a question regarding proper paint colors to use for restoring some old Dinobots I acquired recently.

I know that there is no way to 100% restore any faded chrome or metallic components, such as Sludge's tail or Grimlock's chest, but I was wondering if anyone knows any paint colors that are a good substitute.

I'm in the process of cleaning them up and doing some minor repairs, and I'd like to restore some of the color as well.

If anyone can help, or has doen this before, I'd greatly appreciate any feedback you may have.

    Thanks.

If you're really patient, you could put bare metal foil chrome over the silver chromed areas, and I do believe they havea gold chrome too. its just really thin and easy to tear so you'll need to be patient and careful.

Yeah that could work for you.
Also metal foils & leafs crumple & crease very easy. It's hard on a TF to get a
totally smooth finish. The adhesive that you would have to use is very
unforgiving, once you make contract with the foil or leaf it's stuck on.
If you not to picky about it being smooth, this would be a very good option for you

What kinds of places have this kind of foil available? Do I need to find a hobby store, or do standard stores carry this stuff?

I've seen silver/gold/tin leaf in Michael's (craft store)

I'd also recommend looking into some Alclad if you've got the patience.
