I, like many others, was astounded by Ironhide's unfortunate demise. No one acknowledged his death and I was very saddened by this. I decided to write a small scene that speaks for itself. I suck at writing so please bear with me.

Optimus sees the rusted body of Ironhide. Both of Ironhide's arms and his head have fallen off. There is a gaping hole in his forehead. Optimus transforms and kneels beside Ironhide's body. His whole body is shaking and when Optimus speaks, his voice is pained and broken.*

"You were my oldest friend Ironhide. You have always displayed faith in me when no one else did. You stood by my side forever. You deserved better Ironhide, and they shall pay for this. They all will. No Decepticon will escape me until this planet is safe. Rest in Peace, my friend."

As you can see I tried to add an explanation for Optimus going Chuck Norris on every Decepticon's ass. Hope you all liked it. :D

Awww, that's a nice way to fill in the gap of Optimus's reason for his grieved tone during the scene where Optimus is talking with Sam before the launch of the Xantium. Optimus sounded so emotional when he spoke, his tone sounded tired, grief-filled, and lost.

I've probably worn myself out on how many times I've said it, but... Ironhide did not deserve a death like that. It was brutal, it was cold, it was cruel, and it was savage. Ironhide would've rather stared death in the face with honor and pride, just like any true soldier should've done. But no... all he got was a cheap shot to the back and he melted away into a heap of rust and metal until there was nothing but his head left.

Farewell, Ironhide. May you give Primus hell with your big boomers. :D

R.I.P. Ironhide, you were by far one of the bravest, most feared Autobot in the history of Cybertron. You did NOT deserve the death you got which was undeserving and Prime made sure Sentinel payed for your brutal murder. You will be missed and will always be in our hearts forever. You would have made the Primes and Primus proud for your sacrifice. You also saved Bumblebee from Sentinel's psychotic betrayal and gave him the time to escape Sentinel's Rust gun which you had the unfortunate encounter with...

Bumblebee, Optimus, Mirage, Sideswipe, and especially Ratchet, will miss you terribly..Goodbye my friend.

My love for movie Ironhide has already devloped past this.

I have now determined that the red repaint is him forcing himself back together by sheer force of will. The movieverse is damaged, broken and dying - and he's still got ass to kick.

If Rosanna is going to save G1, only Ironhide can save the movieverse.

    :D

(I really need to get out more. ;) )

I agree it would be nice. So far as I can remember nobody even mentioned his death at all. After what he went through, it would have been nice if at least someone had acknowledged his death. The scene you wrote fits, and would have been a nice rememberance scene for Ironhide. R.I.P Ironhide, you won't be forgotten...

Shouldn't it be Rust in Piece?

    Oh, too soon?

I'm disappointed that his death wasn't mentioned at some point, but the Autobots were under fire, all hell was breaking loose and there were bigger concerns to deal with. If it was mentioned, then people are right in thinking it happened off-scene.

Optimus...has a pretty shoddy history with memorials.

For better or for worse, at least he didn't give Ironhide the same half hearted eulogy he gave Jazz :p

Ironhide: Prime ... we couldn't save him.
Prime: Aawww ... Jazz ... throw him away, would you Ironhide?
    Ironhide: ...
Prime: Sam, you saved my life. I am in your debt.
    Ironhide: ...

Just finished the movie, and Ironhide's death lacks emotional impact, it was just...oops, he's dead. No one, I mean no one even mentions him after that, not even some random bot/human screaming "IRONHIDE!!!!". He was left forgotten.

That's the problem with the film series, lacking character emotions, especially from the robots

R.I.P. Ironhide. You were the Autobot's greatest fighter.

    Sentinel, you traitor!
