Back in 2004, when announced Resident Evil 4, currently a GameCube Exclusive (wrongness right there, at the time), would be coming out soon, why would CAPCOM release a game like Resident Evil Outbreak and give the players all the problems of the previous games when the general public have played or seen a demo of Resident Evil IV --- which clearly demonstrated the eradication of such problems like Bad Camera Angles, clunky controls, or terrible A.I controlled characters and creatures? (Even after Resident Evil 4 was released, they made the same mistakes with Resident Evil Outbreak - File #2 as aforementioned above.)

Were the improvements presented in RE4 a one-time only thing for Resident Evil Games?

[Another Question: How come they didn't import RE0 and the Remakes to the Playstation Systems?]

Judging from everything seen from RE5 I'd say they're moving forward with the main series in a similar fashion to 4.

My guess is that the other games you mentioned probably had different creators/producers/directors or whatever

We've already been shown that RE5 will play very similarly to RE4, so you don't need to worry. What was "wrongness" about RE4 being a GC game anyway?

I don't understand your first, question? Was it?

Second, REmake and RE0 were created specifically for the GC so that you could play all the RE0 games in the series on one platform. I don't think the PS2 was powerful enough to handle REmake regardless.

RE4 only split because they wanted to sell more copies.

Hopefully someone will post and blow my post out of the water with a better explanation.

Well, they could've tried for a total downgrade like they did putting RE4 on the PS2, but I suppose those two wouldn't have been as worth the effort as RE4 was.

While I won't deny how incredibly intuitive the controls for RE4 are, I never understood why people bitched about the old controls. They were second nature for me, and I thought they were perfect.

The reason is simple. The perspective of the screen and the perspective of the controls don't match. That can be difficult if you're used to your controls translating 1-to-1 to the screen instead of the character. The expectation for most is that the character will move in the direction you point. RE4 makes the controls and the perspective match.

I guess I'm one of the few that absolutely hates the controls for RE4. Nothing about aiming your weapon or the camera angles feel in anyway natural to me. Though all this recent talk about the game, I think I'm gonna give it another shot this weekend.

They felt as natural to me as any first person game that uses an analog gamepad. If you're going to try again, you should try the Wii version. Big improvement.

Why did they have to put the Presidents Daughter in that game? I gave up when I had to escort her, so incredibly freaking annoying. Probably way better on the Wii, but I won't know for a long, long time.

    *glares at the Gamecube version*

The Ashley parts weren't that bad, in fact they were pretty damn easy compared to the older games.

I think part of the reason for the "classic" control scheme hatred is this--you're being pursued by zombies. It kinda takes some of the heat off when you have to turn in place like you're dancing some weird two-step then walk towards the door.

Yeah, it at least would've benefited from a sidestep and quick-180 like Silent Hill had.

    Re4 has a quick 180 turn doesn't it?

in my mind the only worthy successor to RE 1 & 2 so far has been dead rising by far. is had plenty of what made the first 2 games great. ZOMBIES, lots of them.

Yes, she, does not own a Gamecube System (I own a PSII), since the 'wrongess' quote and inquiring why RE0 and the RE:Remakes weren't imported to the Playstation System.

Heh, I had totally forgotten about Resident Evil 5 (Laughs). Well, I won't have to worry about them falling backwards on Graphics and Controls I guess.

Yeah, there's an inexpensive console with superior hardware to the popular one... but since it's not the most popular system God forbid anyone make exclusive games for it. That would be completely wrong.

The Outbreak games were alright but not as good as the rest of the series. Resident Evil 1 was such a great game for its time to look back and complain about the control system now seems silly. It was a PS1 launch title, revolutionary at the time. It's easy to look back now and say-geez those controls suck compared to whats on my XBOX 360. A lot of older gamers mastered those controls and that made them second nature to us. I had a harder time with RE4 becoming a Doom clone, but I did grow to love that game as well, still would have preferred the original control system on it though, but then I'm old.......................

Dude, a lot of people had trouble with those controls when it came out. They're awkward. They had to re-release the game on the same console just to make the controls suck less, and it still didn't fix the problem entirely. Looking back has nothing to do with it.
