Here is the first shot of the prototype stickers.
My only suggestion would be to make the larger "speaker" stickers look a bit more photorealistic.
Otherwise, I dig it.
I think it's TFW2005's mascot Boombox
I loves me sum Sirius - Classic Vinyl - FTW!
Looks really nice Delta! I like the 'mesh' look to the speakers, and think the display sticks out nicely with the bright blue background! Are the large speakers one solid sticker? I remember reading something you read saying you might make them 2-piece... How did you go about applying the main speaker stickers? -Did you do anything to the buttons & d-pad below them?
I'd still like to see a display based off the shield display like on this page... or something with a reference to Tony Bacala, and/or John Flores (aka King Starscream), who created Boombox 's original design. Either way, I think your prototype stickers are pretty true to Redline's digibash, and can't wait to see what Sculpt-bot's head looks like on it!
Hmmm... well, I was hoping by now someone would have contacted the original designers of Boombox. Can anyone here help out by getting their official permission?
Yes, the left sticker is two parts. A chrome ring and a speaker inside.
The right speaker is a solid piece - I just removed the spring to make that work.
And here's Boombox's alt mode:
Might help get some of the details a little closer to the actual alt mode. Maybe making a sticker that fits in the Real Gear's screen that looks like the center controls and screen on the JVC boombox.
Kinda like this:
Please keep in mind this is a very down and dirty digibash.
I may actually buy that real gear fig just to do this.
ooh, not really a big fan of the speaker stickers. any way they could be changed to a more standard speaker design without the grilles?
Thanks for the update, Delta! Whatever you end up with, I'm really grateful for your work and willingness to do this for the board I can't wait to get started still
I was going to say that there was no way to get the alt mode to look anything like the real thing, but I think you did it nicely there. With a little tweaking here and there it would definitely work.
Somebody who owns the actual radio would probably have to take some better pics.
I forgot to add that it would be cool to make it look like the boombox photoed. Again, I'm still glad you're just willing to do this for us, Delta
When these are available I am so going to do this, now to find a head that would look Boombox-esque.
Like the one Sculpt-bot is making?
I'll let you guys fight over it. The hard part is done - that being the cut lines.
I don't mind changing the graphics. In the end, I'm going to do whatever Redline says - that keeps me out of trouble
So, since the subject of the thread is "Reprolables/Sculptbot" I would imagine that head is being made the right size for the Real Gear? And if so where do I sign up for this?
I don't think the specifics (aside from posting in the original thread) has been directly discussed. My assumption was that once everything was made that persons could then commit in some capacity. (?)
I would like to think that members (a subtle key word) who posted initially (another subtle key word) and expressed intent on making the project for their own collection (a few key words in a series for a specific subtle suggestion) would have first dibs to whatever is solidified. (?)
I've already stripped my Powerup of his stickers, and stripped him of his paint... he's patiently waiting for the day he gets an new head, paint, & stickers...
Is there any way we might be able to get this thread merged with the original topic? Maybe edit the original's topic/first post to reflect the update from Delta? It's already apparent that there is a little confusion as to what this is all about...
