Heh. I totally read the title too fast. I though it was a tutorial on how to turn a Nemesis Prime into a Trailbreaker (the whole fig., not just the head). Not that I would have done it anyway..... Cool tutorial, though, very easy to follow!
I swear, we are the only fandom that would do such permanent and extensive changes to an exclusive figure.
I bet people who HTS screwed out of one will be absolutely livid when they see this.
All that, and you can't even transform it with the head on? There has to be a better way.
I doubt it. It's not THAT hard to get one, and the mold works well for a Trailbreaker. They screwed me out of one, and I think it's a great idea! (The custom is, but not the way they did it.)
Looks cool, but for my FIRST N. Prime custom I put the Skids head on it for an Ironhide type looking character. That is cool, but I hate the fact you have to remove the head for Transformation. With my custom, that is sadly currently on hold, "head removal" is not necessary.
No way in hell I am doing that to mine, I don't even REMEMBER Trailbreaker as a character. I am on the other hand working on making a Sword of Fury the size and style needed for my Alt Nemesis prime.
Very nice instructions. Now where can I buy those tubes?
Reprolabels, you are my hero. This is why I own two Nemesis Primes.
They had me until "Head must be removed for transformation"....plus it looks fairly complicated-this coming from a guy thats taken a car completely apart and restored it.
Non the less, nice of them to go through the trouble in putting that info together..
So some people weren't able to get a hold of this figure (like me), yet others are perfectly willing to buy one and mutilate it?
Yeah, this is fair.
They had me until the head removing thing. To be totally honest I don't think this should be front page news. The guys in the radicons forum come up with better and less complicated head swaps all the time, and most of them don't require the head to be removed during transformation.
Having said that, the tutorial itself is pretty well done.
I'm sorry, but I think that method is completely unnecessary. Plus it's the worst way to go about it IMO. By cutting off the balljoint, drilling holes, and adding styrene tubing, you're essentially weakening it. Making it very prone to breaking off, espcially if you have to remove the head for transformation.
If you have all the tools listed there, you might as well just modify Swindles head to fit on Primes neck joint. Just fill in the back of the head with putty or epoxy and use a ball shape cutter to redo the joint inside the head.
I call that whole thing a waste of time and money. Why in the world would you want a marginal character like the boring Trailbreaker?! Because the pick-up truck happens to be black? C'mon.
Fair has nothing to do with it. I could afford the prices on eBay so I bought them. If you'd like to dispute the fairness of that, I'd recommend a good philosophy course at your local university. But be warned, you'll probably come out knowing less than you started.
After looking at what they're suggesting more closely, I think that's probably a heck of a lot easier. Especially if head removal is a requirement anyway.
There's two very different arguements against this bash.
1) OMG why would you ruin a Nemisis prime to make Trailbreaker? Trailbreaker is TEH SUCKORZ! NEM Prime RULZORZ! LOL
2) The actual method used is overly complicated and doesn't produce a satisfactory end result.
When people are going to reply, please state if your beef is #1 or #2.
Also, somebody start a thread on the ethics of bashing Nem Prime to trailbreaker, it doesn't need to be discussed here.
Question why would head removal be Necessary for transforming at all? Isn't Alt Prime's Head bigger than Alt Swindle's? (Too lazy to go transform them and check....)
I agree with Lobo, using putty to either make the NP ball bigger or Swindle/Rollbar's hole smaller is the much easier way to go. And I'm not sure why they said you have to remove the head for transformation. Just turn the head around so that it's facing back and it'll transform without any problems. The reason why you can't transform with the Rollbar head facing forward is because the hole on Rollbar's head is toward the back of the head while NP's hole is in the middle. So with Rollbar's head sitting on NP's ball it is sitting more towards the front thus impeading movement of the bonnet/chest. But if you turn the head around then there's not problem.
I agree the reprolabels method seems like alot of unnecessary work.
1 and 2.
And 3: Why not just make Swindle or Rollbar into Trailbreaker?
That's what I would do and I plan to do as well... Making a Rollbar/Swindle into a Trailbreaker is a lot more fitting and easier IMHO...
