You know, toys ruined by color shcemes and a repaint saves them OR vice verca.

 

Well, technically you could say that any repaint that ends up creating enough castings to outstrip the lifespan of the mold is a repaint that ruined a mold.

 

Universe 1.0 figures. 'Nuff said.

 

I'd say the Voyager Cybertron Scattershot/ Universe Dropshot/ Universe Overload/ Botcon Flak mold. It's a good mold, but used so many times that I'm sure people are sick of it now.

A lot of the Cybertron Scouts had terrible colour schemes. The repaints in the Movie line were awesome, however.

 

Yes, thanks for that. I thought it was an almost decent colour scheme until you mentioned that.

Let's see. Every SG repaint. Frankly, Overcast. Why? Coz even though it's better than Dreadwind, it's still getting that mold out there. Same goes for that other orange repaint of that mold.

Energon Terrorcon Scout repaints. Doom-lock, Command Ravage, etc. Omnicons were okay when repainted.

07 Movie Cliffjumper. Simple. The head doesn't work as CJ.

I think just about any figure that's overexposed or overused tends to fall into this category. Some figures simply aren't fully appreciated just because one can go just about anywhere and find one. The same holds true for a mold that's reused over and over to the point people are just sick of seeing the mold, even if the mold itself ROCKS.

 

Hey, Energon radiation rocked my world. Best (nearly) line-wide gimmick EVER.

 

the camo pattern on it looks 1/2 assed and lazy...i however love the urban camo patterned redeco...that is my favorite of the bruticus with the exception of G1 bruticus...

on the subject of universe 1.0 I think it has some charm granted some were just too WTF like Silverbolt. But Frost Bite IMO was awesome its still on my list of toys I want to have but just have not gotten around to getting (and it does not help that it goes for like £25 these days)

 

Here's a repaint that made a mold 1000x better: Laser Rod Optimus Prime repainted into RID Scourge.

 

Pretty much all of G2. Robots in Disguise, my ass. Fluorescent and neon colors do not blend in with anything...well nothing except Cindy Lauper's wardrobe.
