Why does everyone who does this same kitbash paint his legs black, I want to see someone make a cartoon-accurate version... Anyway, there's a forum for kitbashes, this should get moved there
Maybe its because when Megs is transformed into gun mode, the gun handle is black. By the way, what's the colour of G1 Megatron's legs in the cartoon? Somehow I simply can't recall the colour, no matter how hard I recall...
They were dark grey, hence why I wondered why everyone used black to be toy accurate, I'm amazed nobody's gone cartoon accurate yet.
great job and by the way they were gray on inside black on the outside in the cartoon http://www.unicron.us/tf1984/cartoonpix/megatron1z05.jpg
Ask and you shall recieve... I've been debating which way to go on those shine guards. I thought about just making the stripe a medium gray color of Silver as a compromise. But then again I've also thought about just painting them Lght Gun Metal. What do you think? I think the cartoon showed so many different colors of his legs it's hard to get an accurate feel for his shins. Especially when you think about his gun mode where the Handle is black. (The shin guards would make up half of the handle color in gun mode). To me growing up, I never even thought about it and before I looked at it long and hard, I always just assumed they were black. So that's probably why people keep painting his legs black. As for the picks, It's nice except for the cannon arm. The purple original paint is bleeding through the silver. You might have to strip the paint and sand it down and redo it. Other than that, very nice!
It looks like he didn't take it apart, there's several places (especially joints) where you see lack of paint coverage
I tried to get started on repainting mine last night. My clear red paint had dried up, and I can't get my paint to stick to those damn orange caps. Guess I'll break out the can of fusion I've got, and use it for primer.
my kitbash of him has one all silver, and one half black, half silver, so he looks more like the gun in gun forml and more like megatron in robot from
I tried Fusion on it in the first place and for some reason none of my black Krylon Fusion would stick either. Seams to be the biggest problem with the orange parts, and the black torso is a problem too. Although I never had any problem with the plasti-kote on any of the pieces I sprayed with that.
That's weird. My blue stuck to it, fine. I airbrushed my model acrylics over it while it was still tacky, and the next day it was ready to go.
that's weird, as after I dyed the orange parts, I sprayed fusion black over them to get the black to be uniform, and it stuck just fine.
