Does anyone know if this is possible? I recall places that used to let you rent game systems, usually video stores, but dont go to them anymore.... just thought I would ask.
Here in Indiana neither Blockbuster, Family Video, nor Hollywood Video rent ANY systems anymore. sucks.
Compared to the PS3, they're not. If I remember correctly, renting systems used to be pretty expensive -around $40-$50. You could probably buy a used 360 from Gamestop and sell it back to them when you are done, and you will probably only be out around $50. I don't know what they are buying or selling used systems for these days. You might want to look into that.
I know the places there used to rent here, you had to have a Deposit for at least half the consoles. And with the Network IDs now, I see no reason for places to rent out consoles.
You'll have to find an independent game store that offers system rentals, like the one near Atlanta where I live: http://n2gamesonline.com The guy who owns this shop has a PS3 he rents out. I don't know if he rents other consoles -- I never asked, I just noted the "rent me" sign on the box behind cash wrap. GameStop bought up all their competition (EB Games and Rhino Games) and they don't rent systems at all, and Blockbuster stopped renting consoles ages ago. And while I hesitate to encourage anyone to do this (there's just too much room for abuse with this), I suppose you could take advantage of GameStop/EB Games 7-30 day warranty on their used systems. If you've been thinking of getting an XBOX 360 or a PS3, you could purchase a used or refurbished console and "try it out". With a used system, as long as you return it within 7 days of your purchase you can still get a full refund if you have your original receipt. I would caution against making a "habit" of using this method. Some customers attempt to do this with used games and they think they can bring them back as often as they like -- many of them even having BEATEN the freaking game -- and still get a refund or exchange. But it doesn't work that way. You can't use GameStop like your personal library -- to just "check out" a title for a few days and then swap it for another one. Customers are only allowed to do this twice. After that second time, the game is yours unless it turns out to actually be defective.
Hey DeceptiKreep, a friend of mine is renting a PS3 from Rent-A-Center. you could go there and see if u could rent the 360.
I might end up doing that while my 360's getting repaired by Microsoft. So I can play the TF game on Tues.
WTF?! I call the Rent A Center nearby. I asked if they had them and how much they charged. Guy puts me on hold. I wait. A different guy answers, I ask the same question. Guy:"How long would you be needing it?" Me:"Probably a week or two" I explained the situation with mine going out for repairs. Guy"We don't do short term rentals" Me:"ok..." *click* Why the fuck would you ask someone how long they would need something, and then tell them you don't do it for short term?
Family Video and Movie Gallery near me rent out Xbox 360's, PS3, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube and Wii systems.
