anyone know a good way of removing the security sticky stuff of the case of a new DVD. I want to know cause some DVDs (new or old, but lately the new ones) will leave sticky crap still on it, which sucks.

You could try some lghterfluid. Leave it to soak for a few minutes and then it shoud come right off.

    Good luck

A warm wet cloth usually works with me, it mucks the glue up, but the lighter fluid of some meths would be good too if it doesn't damage the case.

You can use rubbing alcohol or ammonia-based glass cleaners to soften the adhesive gum and rub it off without being as harsh (and flammable) as lighter fluid. It probably takes more work, but it's a better option than just a damp cloth.

I take the cover insert out and use Goo Gone. Its specifically made to get stuff like that out but tends to leave an oily residue, but that can be cleaned up by wiping it off real good or a bit of warm water.

Generally, when I open a DVD I use a small exacto knife to cut the middle of the stickers on the case right at the places where the case opens. Sometimes that means all three sides. Then peeling off the stickers is pretty easy.

If any residue is left over, I usually just use the peeled off stickers themselves and reapply and peel, reapply and peel, until the residue is off. I figure that the glue that is left over likes the glue that is on the stickers, so they'll go together with some pressure. If that doesn't do it, I just give up because I was being too anal anyway. :)

I usually pull it off with the sticker. If any comes off when you take the sticker off. Press it down on where the sticky stuff is and it rip it back off. It'll take the residue/leftover glue with it.

that's what i would do, but sometimes there's no sharp pointed object to do that with (like in my car)...and me too, if it doesn't come out, i give up.

and the sticky stuff is the excess residue....the other sticky stuff is easy to remove, that i dont need help in removing :D
