With the news that Kiss Play Convoy is indeed all plastic we can safely assume that the Binaltech line is dead, at least for now.

While it saddens me, it's been a great couple of years, and along with Masterpiece Prime, they brought me back to collecting.

I'd like to take the oppurtunity to cherish my top 5 from the line:

    1. Meister - wow! I think this was the best Binaltech, red or white, doesn't matter. Great headsculpt, fully articulated, sleek and stylish, complex but intuitive transfromation. A total winner!

    2. Overdrive- the pleasant surprise. A rather obscure character gets a wicked update. A total overhaul from G1, with lots of personality.

    3. Ravage - there was a lot of controversy on this one - I love it. The corvette looks great in black and the bot mode with the grey and ruby red touches is beautyfull.

4 - Smokescreen - Maybe not as polished as the improved Meister mold... but ther's a lot of raw love present in the first release. An amazing update.

    5. Skids. They went out with a bang! Faithful to the original, poseable and detailed, awesome headsculpt, creative transformation.

Binaltech.. rest in peace.. until next time!

Paintchips and all, Binaltech is one of the freshest ideas to come out of the Takara factory.

Awesome packaging, beautiful instruction booklet, intricate details. Definitely tailored for the adult collector.

Its a sad day when die-cast collectables loose out to kiddie porn.

All my BT's stayed sealed after the first smokescreen chipped - they are amazing tho, and are one of the nicest things to display in my collection.

It is a shame how they finished however - I have had to switch to alts as a result.

I'd swear, ya'll must be some ham-fisted collectors, because aside from maybe two figs--smokescreen cuz I transformed him tons and kept rubbing the doors, and meister cuz he was on the edge of my display and I kept knocking him off--none of my binaltechs are chipped.

I have one Binaltech toy - Prowl, and they were nice, but my wallet thinks otherwise.

There is no way I could afford to collect them, but it is sort of sad that there are no longer dicast versions for those who want them.

I totally agree with you man. I was never willing to shell out the extra money just to get the same toy I could get domestically because it was made of metal, but I know there were a lot of people who felt differently.

Paint chipping on Diecast is something you can only avoid for so long.....

but when a $40 + toy comes straight from the factory with chips, it's insulting....

and when a BTA doesen't even line up properly in vehicle mode, and they ship it in robot mode to hide that fact, it's dishonest.

By the time they got to Grimlock, they had already dropped the ball, some very minor retooling and transforming it wouldn't have resulted in a Partsformer.

Takara set the end of the line in motion before Tomy get involved.

I guess i can live with Kiss Convoy having no diecast (the way the heels are designed could mean it can't support the weight - the toy is somewhat unstable anyway) but charging Binaltech prices for an Alt with a better paint job is nothing more than greed.

I loved the BT's won't collect something that in my eyes is inappropriate. I love the die cast as well, and none of mine have chipped. You guys must man handle them to get all the chips.

What part of "came out of package with paint chips" is lost on you?

BTs had me up until alts overtook them in release dates for same toy. go hasbro!

i'm glad i got alt sideswipe, meister and smokescreen for the BTs tho. the alt finish was crap. which is why i skipped the likes windcharger.

ive got alt skids but hopefully one day i'll replace it with a BT. still need a shockwave tho.

I can't afford BT any more.

But, the only things I'm missing are: the other three versions of Smokescreen and Blue Prowl. Got everything else :D

And now I get to learn all about the pain in the ass that hunting down Alts is.

The BT line is what got me back into Transformers ( after Masterpiece Convoy ).

Its a shame they killed the regular BT line. BTA was ok while it lasted but Im not really a fan of the pvc figures that came with them and I would rather they were packaged in alt/vehicle mode.

I am very dubious about the Kiss line as the concept seems a little off mark to me. However if they do use die cast that will swing things back its way.

My fave BTs so far are: Meister, Laserwave and Grimlock as they really suit their new bodies and I always liked their characters.

oh, the memories. On the other side of the coin, I don't think BT Prowl came off too well. I love the mold and the headsculpt, but I found the deco a bit dreary and that translucent plastic on the head wasn't too hot.

Also, Blue Prowl, beautyfull main color, but the bot mode scheme seemed an afterthought.

I think they should have gone with Red Alert as intended, the red would have looked better. Indeed, I kitbashed my police Prowl to Alert, and the Blue one to a Bluestreak lookalike.. I see him as Deep Cover.

I also wish we could have gotten a jeep mold Trailbreaker, and a Charger mustang. Of course, the Beetle Bb and Cliffy too, but the other ones were at least more likely...

Never bought any of the toys, but I loved reading the ongoing Binaltech story. I'd really like to see where it was supposed to go next, with the introductions of Ginrai and Hot Rodimus.
