    The definition of "frivolous lawsuit".
I hope he has to pay every penny the dry cleaners put up in legal defense.

Unless that's resolved in their favor, though, they still will lose.

Even worse, the taxpayers are still paying him in the meantime:

When I originally read that story, I was reminded of the hotshot lawyer dude in the movie "Celullar." Nice to see that the story ends about the same way for this judge - owned!

It is one thing to claim damages and have them give you money for a new pair of pants. This was just totally ridiculous.

The thing is, the judge didn't get owned. He's paying a $1,000 dollars. So what--he's a senior civil servant, and I'm willing to bet he makes high five figures if not low six. And his legal fees were probably close to zero--besides filing costs, etc., I'm sure he did all the work himself. And he still has his job. Nothing was really done to discourage him from doing this again.
That's what I use for all my "Dry Clean Only" clothing. Those tags are just a scam anyways by Big Dry Cleaning.'

EDIT: He makes $100,512 per year. Source: http://www.atra.org/

If the "judge" is elected by the voters, I hope they remember that at election time.

<seinfeld>The only warning label people really respect is 'dry-clean only.' Y'know what I mean? Speed limits, lung cancer, cigarette warnings - your very life is at stake! People go, 'Ah, the hell with it!' But dry-clean only? 'Oh, don't put that in the wash! It's dry-clean only! Are you crazy?!'<seinfeld>

He is appointed--to a 10-year term--by a three person committee: the Commission on Selection and Tenure of Administrative Law Judges — Robert Rigsby, Henry Levine and Peter Wilner. As far as I can tell, those three individuals are also appointed, by Chief Administrative Law Judge Tyrone Butler. Not certain, but it seems that he is also in turn appointed, presumably by the AG of DC, or possibly by the mayor or city council.

Apparently, he even broke down into tears while giving testimony about his pants, and had to request a recess to compose himself.

If I own the drycleaners, I would sue him for wasting my time.

The suit was ridiculous and I hope that Pressure from the public will see to it that this judge steps down.

I say to strip him of his power for idiocy. A judge who wastes taxpayer's money on a stupid lawsuit over pants just screaming to get booted off.

Man, I was the trial judge I would have made that other judge guy dryclean the family's laundry for a year and repay all the tax money that was wasted fo that stint.
