I've never heard of a few of those, weird. I've never even heard of the Plague Dogs book, and I consider myself to be well, you know, not a moron.

    Good list though.

Grave of the Fireflies. Oh boy, that is one sad movie. That, Iron Giant, The Transformers and The Land Before Time made me cry when I saw them (on that list). I was too young when I saw Bambi and didn't really understand what was going on, and I've never watched it since then.

The Iron Giant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's your typical space robot meets boy, boy falls in love, space robot sacrifices himself to stop a frightened government agent from nuking a small town story, but only animated.

    Grave of the Fireflies

Seriously, the single most depressing movie I've EVER seen.

Fantastic movie, but so freaking depressing.

I'm gonna have to disagree about The Iron Giant.

Some of the others, including Bambi and Land Before Time, were freakin' SAD!

The majority of Iron Giant's running time was fun-loving and high-spirited. Yeah, the Giant gets destroyed at the end, but the movie ends on a happy note as the Giant pieces himself back together. You can't help but smile when you see the pieces congregating. For comparison, Grave of the Fireflies did not end on a happy note. You ain't smiling when those credits roll...

Grave of the Fireflies should of been ranked number one. I have not met one person that did not get teary eyed after watching it.
It is the saddest movie I have ever seen, live or animated.

How in the world did Iron Giant rank #1 on this list? let alone actually make it on the list at all. The only other one I think doesn't belong on the list is Transformers, though I never did watch that as a kid, and I haven't seen either Grave of the Fireflies or When the Wind Blows yet, so I'm not going to judge their placements. Bambii should have ranked higher and The Last Unicorn should have made it on the list.

Wow, about half of those movie I've never heard of/didn't see and the ones I did didn't rise a tear out of me at all (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Bambi, The Iron Giant, Transformers: The Movie, An American Tail, The Land Before Time). The only movie on there at made me teary eyed as a child was Fox and the Hound. Why wasn't The Lion King on there?; Now that made me tear up something fierce.
