I think we should start a petition to reissue Fort Max. With two sequels to the TF movie coming out TakaraTomy must have something in the works for oldschool fans.

I dunno. I dont think it would be a winning strategy for takaratomy. He would be very expensiv and two he is rather big to. but as a limited edition thing that u hade to pre-order and u hade untill a certain time to do so. Then after the pre order whitch would be binding they would create as many as were pre-orderd.

Maybe someone on the US side would have to start with a petition on that toy-safely law that's preventing something as large as FortMax from being made again. What did he fail? Was it the drop test for toys?

Yeah, Fort Max fails the drop test. Hasbro tried to release him as part of RID but were unable to because of this.

As a result he will never be re-released in the US.

Personally, I don't have the space for another Max Bot. Fort/Grand/Brave is plenty!

I have both Fort Max and Brave Max... and it would be great to see him get reissued again, but I would rather see an updated version in the same scale, but with more articulation....Now that would Rock :rock

Hey what about reissuing Grand Maximus instead.

I've always thought Fort Max was in the upper range of G1 toys that might conceivably get reissued (in Japan). We know they have the mold, they've done Brave Max a few times over the years. TakaraTomy isn't doing reissues these days, but if they ever started up again I think the chances would be better than average.

Of course, he'd be crazy expensive...easily $150, perhaps pushing $200.

They drop the toy from a certain height onto a solid floor and see what happens. If it shatters into too many sharp / dangerous pieces it fails (or something to that effect). Fort Max being the heavy mofo that he is must have done some serious damage.

Couldn't they just, ya know, use better plastic?

What "better plastic" could they use?

The only way he'd pass the test is if he was 100% rubber.

Something thicker perhaps. I don't know. I don't own a Fort Max, nor have I seen one IRL, so I really have no idea about it. Just seems odd that it would just down right "shatter" to the point that the US bans its production and release.

if you were to drop something like Cybertron Ransack from a height of 10 feet, it probably wouldnt make much impact due to weighing practically nothing. Now try that same test with something that's 15 pounds. "The bigger they are, the harder they fall," so says gravity.

(granted, the circumstances of the drop test are rather extraordinary. Most people's TFs would never even be 7 feet in the air, much less 10, and would usually be around carpets rather than solid floors)

As for a re-issue, if I didnt have one I'd be wishing for one just as much as anyone else. I suppose if they re-issued a complete Fort Max, with Gasket and Grommet and the sword and what not, then it'd be very popular for those of us who bought the minimally accessorized Brave Max. But I believe Takara intentionally left those pieces off of BM because of cost issues in the first place. As Kid Dynamite said before, a complete re-issue would not be cheap.

I forgot about you earthlings and your "gravity".

Actually, I figured that weight = density of plastic. Which I figured would equate sturdiness. I stand corrected, and as such I'll now slink away from this thread feeling stupid! :)

I'd rather see TakaraTomy reissue Metalhawk!

Some of the Victory and Zone characters would be cool, too.
