I am sure this has been answered before but how do you tell the difference from a japanese re-issue toy and an original japanese toy if they are loose. Do the copyright dates differ?

I don't have an original God Ginrai. TFU.info shows identical-looking toys on their God Ginrai and Powermaster Prime reissue pages. So I for one can't say.

I'm not sure about the copyright stamps but I think the reissue Ginrai has blue eyes instead of red...

I think he always had blue eyes in Japan. I'll have to get my reissue out, but I think the copyright dates got updated for the reissues. There's also a Godbomber variant but I don't know the story behind that. It's to do with the missiles molded into the chromed chest, one version has them and one doesn't, though both were used on the vintage.

yea I read about that. I think the one that had them molded to the chest was part of the vintage giftset while the other was the one available if you purchased them seperately. The compyright info would be a huge help if it was updated....

The one I am selling has Hasbro/Takara stamped 1987 on the PM Prime part, but the God Bomber parts are takara 1988, with japanese instructions. So I think mine is original US for the PM Prime and Japan/Takara for God Bomber.

    My reissue says...

    On Super Ginrai's trailer:

    © 1987 Hasbro. Inc.
    © Takara. 1987
    Japan

    And on God Bomber:

    © Takara. 1988
    Japan

So the existing stamps are carried over, it seems.
