Ever wonder why since Takara are so quick to reissue the same figures over and over again, why didn't they do another run of Ironhide, Ratchet, Ramjet, Thrust, etc. They only got one run of reissues and are almost unattainable. It'd be great if they offered these one more time.

Good question. I always wondered this myself.

The only thing I can really figure is that Takara didn't seem all that keen on repaints/remolds in the TFC series. They did Sideswipe but not Red Alert, Prowl but not Bluestreak, Inferno but not Grapple, Starscream was the only seeker they did, and so on.

As for Ironhide/Ratchet, I thought that maybe the Ironhide/Ratchet mold is really tiny in alt mode, and maybe it was thought it wouldn't sell as well for that reason. My faint recollection is that Skids (who is also tiny in alt mode) didn't sell particularly well at the time.

my bet is those molds dont sell as well. Look at Blaster and Astrotrain, they are pretty solid molds but dont fly off the shelves like the main guys do.

They could always do with Ironhide and Ratchet what they did with the Insects. Two pack.

    Shhhh ... don't remind them about those. : (

If they cut loose a reissue of the 2001 Jafcon 10 (Ramjet / Thrust) exclusive, I'll cry. I paid a premium for those thinking it would be a limited run.

*feels bad for those effected by TRU's nonsense*

oh the memories. I purchased all of this in one week back in my "catch up" mindset.

Pardon my noobishness but, are those all convention exclusives? Cept the E-hobby stuff at the botton.

Ratchet, Ironhide, and Trailbreaker are. The rest of the stuff I believe was ehobby.

The only one really sold at a convention was Trailbreaker. He came in a set with Hoist.

Ironhide and Ratchet were sold though e-Hobby's website, but limited to 1000 pieces, just like the rest of the convention stuff ... and during convention season.

The black Powermaster Prime in the corner was a Japanese TRU exclusive.

The Powermaster Prime was a general release.

The rest of the stuff is e-Hobby.

I really want them to reissue Ironhide and Ratchet. I never got them, and can't let myself pay the inflated price for such a crappy mold.

lol, yeah but Ironhide and Ratchet would be just as un-desired as Skids if they were plentifully available (then again, because of their names being used in the movie...). They're one of the crappiest of original g1 toys, I mean their face is their windshield and they look like 4 pieces of block lego stuck together.

Yeah I just bought a mib g1 Ramjet, because of all the reissues of the main 3, and Dirge just sucking, he is the most desirable of the seekers to me.

    nah, their faces are seats.

if they were reissued again, they'd do great. they're hugely popular characters in the US and UK, importers alone would make their release a success. comparing them to skids though? come on now, did anyone ever like skids? I remember hating him in the comics after he threw ravage down a well.

Hehe, I was so confused trying to find their heads when I was a kid..."it has to be somewhere". Don't you think the main reason they're hugely popular now though has a lot to do with their rarity moreso than their inherent awesomeness? The most rare g1 cars are the non- (or skantily) reproduced ones: Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, Ironhide n Ratchet (who love to be discoloured it seems), etc. and these are also the most popular and sought after. Anyways, yeah I guess the skids comp. was a little low, but I really don't know anyone who liked Ironhide and Ratchet as figures back in the day either.

Correction. Their face is a happy face sticker BEHIND their windshield. :p

Profits mainly. I dont think kids are lining up to buy the headless toy of a minor character. The ones they chose to reissue for the unteenth time are likely to sell out without a clearance.
