I want to get into the Regenerations comics, since I find the current IDW ongoing OP and LL not as exciting as it used to be. Should I start reading from the beginning meaning from issue #1 of the Marvel G1 comics to have a better understanding of what's going on, or it doesn't matter?

    Something like all of this

    It's a straight-up sequel

Regeneration 1 has enough "the story so far" bits for people to jump on but it wouldn't hurt to read some of the old G1. My suggestion would be to read End of the Road as it's the story that links in the most.

There're a lot of plot points that go back further.. Mostly R*** and M***, which at the latest could be jumped on at #69/#306 "Eye of the storm" (though it really goes back to the first couple issues), but there's also Spike/Fortress Maximus' arc that starts in the HM miniseries and #38/#156, and Auntie from the early UK stories.. Plus the old UK series is better than Regeneration to begin with. At the barest minimum though yes read the last 6 issues of the US run, the equivalent of the last Titan Books TPB, "Transformers: End of the Road".

[Not the final issue, "End of the Road". I don't recall that having hardly anything to do with Regeneration..]

I'd say read as far back as when Unicron attacked.

I'd start at Simon Furman's run in Marvel and go from there. It's a good read, but the story is a little rushed.
