The title says SPOILERS so no need to use spoiler tags. If you clicked on the thread, it's your own fault.

While I do love having Marvel G1 continued, I really can't stand the pacing. We're 4 issues in and nothing has really moved forward much. This could have easily been two issues (if you take out issue 2's Grimlock scenes and move them to the second story arc). I hope next issue finishes the first arc with Megatron.

As predicted, it looks like killing Ratchet is going to be the key to killing Megatron.

I guess I'm just disappointed that nothing really happens in this issue to propel the story forward. Prime could have shown up at the end of last issue and the results would be mostly the same.

I still have high hopes for Grimlock's story arc as I like Marvel Grimlock and I LOVE the Headmaster characters.

Yeah, the story is average, even by Marvel standards. #82 - #84 should have been condensed into just two issues without losing any important plot points or characterisation of the main characters. This flaw is common with modern day Furman, not an element of the original Marvel comics which were quite full and told a decent stand alone story.

I am interested in Soundwave's Neo-Decepticons the most. I want to see more of what they are up to. The Wreckers storyline is covering old territory that we've seen previously in LSOTW, which also did it better than its done here.

The sooner we move away from the Megatron story arc, the better. Its not doing anything for me.

Do you cut and paste your opinion in every forum?

Struggling to remember the scene in Wreckers where they go up against Megatron on a ruined Earth.

I picked up my copy at the local comic store today.

I'm liking the story well enough, and am interested to learn where it goes, but I definitely agree that the story pacing is too slow.
It feels like the plot is tip-toeing forward, and yes it feels like what has happen so far is about two issues worth of events.
I'm also surprised, and a little disappointed that in this issue just like the last Grimlock's story was not advanced, not even touched on, not even an appearance.

At least according to next issues description on the last page, it seems like things will be moving faster in issue 85, hopefully.

Last Stand of the Wreckers did this same scenario - Wreckers go on a suicidal mission against an enemy they can't beat.

This will then change to Optimus Prime vs. Megatron fight next month. Then after that, then we're in new territory.

My biggest issue with the series as a whole so far, is the constant references to the UK comics. For a series that is supposed to continue the US series ( hence numbered 81-100 instead of 333-373 ), there sure are a lot of references to things that never happened in the US comics. The Wreckers ( was Kup even a Wrecker in the G1 UK comic? ), Auntie, the exo-suits in this issue, the Guardian Units... If a person only read the US comic, none of this will make any sense..

Furman said Marvel U.K. is not in continuity but he would slip in references for Marvel U.K fans however you don't need to have read the U.K. comics to enjoy the story. Theres no excuse to not have read the U.K. comics, they are available as trades.

I have read the UK comics, but I was thinking of the new fans who had not read any G1 comics until these came out and only went back and read the US stuff because of what Furman said.

By making the Wreckers the stars of this arc, he's done more than "slip in a reference".

Some kind of change had to happen in 20 years other than Megatron taking over the earth. A group called the Wreckers was formed. What's not to get?

I like this art style. I'm pleased IDW has embraced so many styles and made it work, Guidi doing the G1 flash backs in the annuals, RID this week had the painted art style, MTMTE has the more cartoony style..... its great variety and really works for me. I have never been so spoiled as a comic fan.

The issue read fast though... I do wish there was more content. I was expecting a little Grimlock action as well. I liked the Hot Rod dream sequence, but the whining by G1 leaders must stop.

Looking forward to next issue. There hasn't been a good Megatron vs. Prime fight in the Marvel G1 continuity since issue #24!! Its about time no?

The whole fight with the automated defenses was boring and went nowhere in this issue. That could have been condensed, they could have fought the Guardians, and could have been inside the thing and gotten to this "mysterious power source" or whatever of Megatrons. The other side of the story was fine, great even, but the whole issue is left feeling like a hop up and down because the Arctic stuff dragged.

That Starscream bit was really solid, shame it was guessed on here but I figured Ratchet was the key anyway. I actually think the next issue is going to be a blast. If anything, speeding up the Ark stuff would allow more Prime/Megatron in #85.

Got the issue. Liking where it's going so far. A tad slow but otherwise good.

I sincerely hope that after the Autobots kill Auntie, and Prime kills Megatron, the lobotomy on all those Decepticons can be reversed. Possibly by Shockwave.

^ Actually, I kind of like that they were just plain dead before. Underbase really helped manage that endless herd of cast members. The only way I'm tolerating seeing all these guys in the first place is rationalizing them as Megatron's special zombie army faction that's going to go away when he goes down.

Bringing everyone back would feel more like converging on the IDW-verse, where the vast majority of characters are alive but we just happen to (till recently) focus on the guys with the biggest fanbase.

Some of the better (or at least more fun) Marvel stuff came out of their being forced to use newer "nobodies" like Landmine, Cloudburst, Skullgrin, Bludgeon, and Thunderwing in prominent roles. Crazy, but true. We won't be seeing much of Krok or Crankcase if Ratbat and Thundercracker come back to life.

Plus the Wreckers are somewhat prominent in modern Transformers fiction. The bunch of forgotten nobodies in 1985 have become quite well known now.

Even in this hypothetical situation, the reader is bound to be aware of the Wreckers from the Dark of the Moon movie. There's 89 issues of the U.S Marvel comic (including Headmasters and the movie adaptation) even before Regeneration One. If a new reader is going to go back and read through all the issues released as trades, then they're bound to discover the U.K. comics in their search. And even if not, I doubt the inclusion of Guardian or the suit from Robot Buster would really throw them off.

It's kind of disappointing to me that instead of the awesomeness of Fortress Maximus, we're being given a glorified super powered-up Spike bossing everyone around. I'm also tired of seeing The Ark get destroyed.

Looking forward to Optimus Prime vs. Megatron. I wish Megatron could have been given a better role before the wrap up though, especially given the lack of anything he was given to do during the Marvel 80. His role here makes me wonder why he was even allowed to survive the Ark crash at all. They could have had him stay dead and it would have freed up 5 issues for something else. Or something.

just cause they are available doesnt mean i can afford to buy them at this time.

    like really. no excuse?

i enjoyed the comic, i think furman is doing a similar thing as barber with RID - slowish setup to truly epic conclusion. i have faith. also, the art is much better in this issue than ppreviously.

I'm thinking Fort Max and the other dead Headmasters will be back soon.
Their heads are still on Nebulos.

Unless Scorponok already killed them... That's what I'm worried about...

Spoiler tags not necessary by the way... If people read this thread it's their own fault. The title is enough warning.
