So I bought a clear MP-36 Megatron to see if it could be dyed purple, so I could add him to my Uncron display. I tested my theory out on the battle damaged chest plate and head, so if it didn't work or damaged the pieces, I wouldn't have damaged the good parts. Here are the test pieces on the figure. I think it turned out pretty good. Now to take the figure apart, Yay .

Looking good so far! May I ask where you got that translucent Megatron? Up until now, I didn't even know it existed.

    Thread subscribed. I want one...

Also, can you give a little insight on what materials you’re using? And how is the figure overall? Does he transform well or feel cheap and risky like some of the clear plastic sort?

I didn’t know either. I found it on sirtoys just bumming around recently. I’m sure other ko sellers would have him.

    Thanks for the replies guys!

For the one's asking where to get, I got him from ShowZ. You can find him on Sirtoys and TF direct also as well as the other usual places.
As for the quality. It doesn't feel cheap like some, he is the same quality as their (THF) clear Soundwave. Got the thighs and the lef arm done, will post photos later.
As for the materials, all I'm using is a Rit-dye, Isopropyl alcohol and water. Just have to find the right mix.

Could you maybe do some in progress pics like he’s fading out of existence?

Any reason not to just soak the whole piece as one unit? Asking for a lazy friend.

Wow, doesn't isopropyl usually destroy transparent plastic? Roughly what proportions are you using in your mix?

Are you able to paint the insides of the parts? What might be a cool idea is to find some violet glow-in-the-dark paint and highlight the raised edges inside the clear parts to recreate that glowing lines effect.

Now that would look cool. You wouldn’t really need a light display when it can just glow itself.

Can you tell me how much RIT dye you use , and isopropyl + water? I'm trying to do this with a non-translucent toy, but black.
