Nightbeat has always been a favorite character of mine since the old Marvel comics, so it stands to reason that I've been very annoyed with his lack of a toy that looks anything like the media he's been presented in. I particularly love his mtmte design as well as all the love Shapeways has shown him. I made a custom a few years back using the more common mods and kits available at the time, now with his headmaster released (and another round of upgrades, thank you Shapeways) I'm close to my dream of a perfect Nightbeat. Still using the torso upgrades and (for the moment) the clip-on chest from Johnbonhamatron, recently added new Titanmaster face and arms from Steamshield, they really sell this guy as an mtmte Nightbeat. Currently working on a new chest purchased from Shapeways that does not need to be removed for transformation, it sadly was just missing sooo much detail that is on the clip-on chest. Got some more work to do on it before coating in floor polish and buffing to get rid of seemlines in the styrene. I tried taking a picture of the unmodified chest, sadly it just looks like a white blob in the photo. Edit: here's the link to steamshields project The Inquisitor's Antennas by SteamShield on Shapeways Edit: OK I'm fairly satisfied now that Nightbeat is as perfect as I can possibly get him, and I'm pretty satisfied with the results. After cutting up and gluing the new chest and clip-on chest I feel it gives him as close to an mtmte comic appearance as I can get. I also had to cut a piece of styrene and glue it to his neck assembly to permanently raise his head a bit more, now he actually appears to have one, lol. I'm sad to say that I'm done with Nightbeat for now. Unless someone is able to come up with something to drastically change the figure for the better. My thanks go out to all the designers out there putting the extra effort into making this hobby so enjoyable for me. Update 4/24/21 Completely forgot about this post for a while, have since upgraded Nightbeat with a chest made by Steamshield, and finished his buddies. Some vehicle mode shots And finally his Headmaster crew.
@Hellscream85 how did you remove his head? I'm repainting Nightbeat as Stakeout and need to swap his head out but am not sure how it's attached since it's not on a balljoint :/
It's on a mushroom peg. You need to take out the screws and separate the body in order to take the head out.
Would you mind linking the project on Steam Shield's Shapeways for the arms? He's got so many parts listed... and the search function on Shapeways isn't helping...... =( Also... Looks good!
OK, update time, new chest sucks, I tried as hard as I could but just couldn't save it. All is not lost though, broke out the dremel and sheered off a centimeter of material from the front of the chest, then cut up the clip-on chest and am currently waiting for glue to dry. No pics tonight, just really tired, going to put Nightbeat down for the night and do a little more work on kup before bed
The bottom parts of the grill are glued in place in vehicle mode configuration on it's backpack, the shoulders flip all the way back and with a little extra care slide in place during transformation
