Thing with Megatron is, he's just as new to this game as Optimus. He's still young, but still very dangerous. He needs to look lean, but in an agile, almost assassin-like way. His goal is to be the typical hulking tower of doom Megatron is known to be, but right now he's still doing push-ups each morning before everyone else wakes up and drinking protein shakes. You know who doesn't need bulking up? Ironhide. I worked out Ironhide's transformation easy. The entire forward section becomes arms, the rear section becomes legs, and everything in between makes his stout little torso. I "cooled' it up a bit to show off his new finite shape, but totally forgot that in posing him now you can't see the doors on his lower arms. Well, you can see part of the rearview mirror at least. BTW, kinda late for the old thread, but I just remembered I did a rough scale chart ages ago. I attached it for fun.
I'm a big fan of different eye colours among characters. BTW, it's worth mentioning that I drew inspiration from Brave-style robots and RID when it comes to poses and transformations.
Agreed about eye colors cause I loved the fact in beast wars the good guys didn't all have blue eyes and some were red and yellow. I can completely see this style being in a show lol. I wish I was good at drawing robots but sadly It's hard for me lol. You make killer stuff Split
True, lovin' the yellow eyes with his colors..really like his face and body in this version--his torso looks like he could actually move very quickly..not at all bulky like the movie version. Well..based on his almost profile pose anyway. Nice work
So what's Ironhide's weapons then? a canon? also I like the idea of a young rookie Megatron. The idea of him trying to bulk up kind of makes me think of Patrick Bateman...hell any character Christian Bale plays as.
This hurts me. I see it, I love it, and the thought of never being able to have a toy model of it hurts.
I wouldn't mind seeing your Ironhide in a series. Optimus...maybe. I always welcome the idea of seeing characters in roles that they aren't normally in. Makes things refreshing. A young, in-training Megatron? What isn't there to like about that concept?
Yeah, you can see the base designs for all my characters in the link in the first post if you're really curious. I'm debating doing Starscream or Shockwave next.
In my opinion, I thik you should do Shockwave next. He was there with Megatron in the beginning like Ironhide to Optimus while Starscream comes later.
I like these, though the alt modes would help us see the transformation scheme.. I think a deathzuarus as "megatron's mentor" would be cool to redesign.
