i think that G1 Whirl has to be one of the oddest looking TFs made, yet i still like him (and when i get a chance, buy one.)

so many things are wrong about him, like his baby blue color, but i guess his alt mode makes it all right.

what's a redeeming quality in a TF you should hate?

    Interesting topic!
I like Whirl because of it's odd-ness. Although it has the brick-tastic articulation of almost all G1 figures, it still has that 'something' that makes me like it.

I can't stand the A/E/C series or many of the toys spawned from it, but I really like Dark Skorpinok. The alt mode is almost steampunk, and the robot mode is brutish, yet articulated enough to be fun.

I keep Whirl in copter mode almost all the time, as it's a great looking mode. I also like that it's one of the only copter TFs with skids (There's also G1 Blades, though that has skids with little wheels pinned to them)

It's not baby blue! It's cyan.

Armada Sideswipe makes a great doorstop.

Well he was Bandai and not Takara so he will be a bit of a different style as even Gobots and TFS were not made the same in design. Great toy still I would say in copter mode and ok in robot form for a blockformer.
