Middle row - far right - the one with a red head that looks like an Alternator.

Is it an official Alternator/Binaltech or a custom kitbash?

Looks like a kitbash to me.

And a nice one at that.

Same with the Mustang in the middle of the pic.

well it looks to me as if it's a repainted Sideswipe, a very cool repaint at that. Love the Armada Red Alert custom from Alt Grimlock too.

They are both rather famous kitbashes done by Squal2932937 or something. He post regularly on the kitbashing section of this board.
If you're reading this Squal, sorry for forgetting the number in your user name.

Awesome kitbashes. But kinda silly, since the "new" versions are "actually" Ratchet, at least in Micron Densetsu.

Are you saying the US names are the "real" ones? About two characters have better names in the US than in Japan. Arcee and um. One other.

Personally, I think both are off at times. But Takara's

Ratchet, Wheeljack, Rampage, Sandstorm, Grapple, Ultra Magnus and Springer

make more sense to me than

Red Alert, Downshift, Wheeljack, Cyclonus, Smokescreen, Overload and Bulkhead. There are others too, like the combiner groups' individual names.

A name is a name, make of them what you will. I actually prefer some of Hasbro's because especially in Energon they didn't force G1 names on everything, like Bulkhead. But that's by the by, everyone has their own preference of course.

    Nice customs!

Only if you insist that every character in the Armadaverse should have the same name as the G1 Character they most closely resemble. (even though all the Characters you mention have almost nothing in common personality wise with the G1 Bots that you imply are their equivalents)

And the Armada Versions were developed under the US names before Takara decided to rename them with more G1-like names rather than translate the existing names.

It's not even as if theres much resemblance between Armada Red Alert and Rachet: except for a colour ccheme and general Alt mode theme thats been common to every single TF Medic.

And anyway Cybertron Red Alert wasn't named "Rachet" in Japan either, he was "First Aid" and then "First Gunner"

Perhaps "First Aid" is a bit off as both Ratchet and Red Alert. But I think it is only logical that the obvious G1 name should be applied if the figure is already a tribute to a g1 character, or the name itself has similarities to the alt mode. Grapple / Smokescreen is a good example.

Why should Takara have to "translate" names? Either they keep the existing Hasbro names or rename the characters. Why "translate"?

Or, more importantly, why are we having this discussion again?
