Saw a whole load of these in my local Woolworths. He looked pretty awful, so I didn't buy one, but it looks like he's packed solid to a case, as there was nothing else on the shelves with him. A new shelf warmer to replace the Protoforms then.

Anyway, someone may be interested in this piece of 'news'.

He's an exclusive to Woolworths over here, so that would be why he's solid packed. Will try and spot him for myself tomorrow.

No, no, this means we get shelf warmer variety. TRU and Argos get Protoforms, and Woolies gets Recon Barricade! ;)

You know, from photos I thought he looked terrible too, and planned to skip him.... but then a friend of picked him up for me, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, his unpainted rear windows look awful in car mode, but his robot mode is actually quite cool. The lighter colors help to show off the details of the mold better (the black looked great and menacing, but some of the details got lost just 'cause he's SO dark).

In robot mode he gives off a VERY stong Soundwave vibe.... between the blue/silver color scheme, the "ejecting" Frenzy, and the head crest, you can definitely tell that this character evolved from Soundwave. Set him next to MP3 Soundwave and the resemblance is unmistakable. (Sorry, wish I had a photo.... I'll try to snap one if anyone's interested).

Anyway, just wanted to chime in and say this figure was was very pleasant surprise to me.

Perhaps it's one of those double-meanings. It probably has some relevance to a member of the design team.

    Hehehe. Hehehehehehehe. HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE.

"Sage2764" was the online screenname of someone who posted at a Hong Kong newsgroup and provided the following things:

He also provided the first stock photos of the Cybertron "Galaxy Force Optimus Prime" repaint. All of those were controlled "leaks" in order to build up credibility... so he could launch his long-planned prank.

Hasbro confirmed it was a "joke" by a "friend outside the company". I know who it was, but I won't spoil his name here. ;)

EDIT: According to his own words, "Sage2764" wasn't him, but "he knew how to get stuff out there" (i.e. to Hong Kong people).

In essence, the license plate says "OWNED", just in other words. ;)
