So I've recently started reading comics... just The Walking Dead. Currently own Book One to Four with Five, Six, and Seven on their way. I also do have over a dozen TF issues. So heres the thing, I really don't want to get into issue to issue, so I prefer hardcovers. Trying to find a start to finish story in one hardcover book. Art style is also important to me.

Currently I have my eye on Batman: The Black Mirror. From the details I've read its a start to finish and one of the best Batman books out there.

Would like to read something TF, X-men and Spider-man related. Anything thats a good read really.

    Any recommendations?

Alright, let me take a crack at this:

Good X-Men stories: The entire run of Uncanny X-Force; The Dark Phoenix Saga; God Loves, Man Kills; Schism; Days of Future Past; Age of Apocalypse; Frank Miller's Wolverine.

Good Spider-Man stories: The Death of Captain Stacey; The Death of Gwen Stacey; Maximum Carnage.

Good Transformers stories: The Last Stand of The Wreckers; Fallen Angel; Target:2006; Prey; Infiltration.

All the stories I mentioned are collected in Trade Paperbacks, with the exception of Uncanny X-Force; the last four issues of The Dark Angel Saga haven't been collected in Trade Paperback yet.

    My personal recommendations:

    1.X-Men

    X-Men - Proteus
    X-Men - Dark Phoenix Saga
X-Men - Days of Future Past

Definitely some of the best X-Men stories ever told. It was the foundation of the X-Men franchise as we know it, as later and even current storylines still take cues from this run. Great for a new reader because it wasn't yet continuity heavy. The peak of the Chris Claremont era, with art by John Byrne at his finest.

    2. Spider-Man

    Ultimate Spider-Man Collection 1 & 2

People might say this one's a bit questionable because it doesn't concern the regular Marvel Universe Spider-Man, but for a time, this title was considered the best written Spider-Man title out there. It was a fresh new take on Peter Parker, free from the constraints of the old Marvel Universe. Definitely a great read for a new reader.

    3. Transformers

    Last Stand of the Wreckers

Currently considered one of the best TF stories told, it might be jarring for a new reader considering it features a lot of second and third stringers, it's still a great one and done story overall.

Best of Spider-Man vol1, The Sword, and Last Stand of The Wreckers was fun. Locke & Key is good but spookey.

You could check out some of the other stuff by the guys behind Walking Dead.

Kirkman's series Invincible or Marvel Zombies might be something you like.

The artist, Tony Moore did a series called Fear Agent about a 50s style sci-fi exterminator I found pretty good as well.

The Last Stand of the Wreckers - I'll most likely get around to getting this

Y the Last Man - Sounds good, but I really don't want to go spending over another $100 for the books.

Batman: The Long Halloween - Damn, why must the Hardcover be so expensive. Reviews are good though.

Again, I'm only looking for Hardcovers. Not a fan of paperbacks no matter how good the story is.

Irredeemable....I recomend this to just about everybody and most seem to like it a LOT. The first few trades especially.

Abyss...I wish they'd collect the second series into a trade as well because it was awesome. Kevin Rubio, the guy who made the Star Wars fan film TROOPS with a book about a kid with who finds out his dad is one of the worst greatest supervillains and sets out to stop him.

Also second the recomendation for Chew and classics like Sandman :)
