Since we have a DS thread here, and I just got a PSP as a late Christmas present, how about we have a quick run-through of some cool PSP games?

As far as what I already have planned, I'll be picking up that Tekken Dark Resurrection game (which is essentially PS2 Tekken 5) and Star Wars Battlefront II when I get the chance. That Daxter game looks somewhat interesting. I'm not a HUGE gamer, but can play Tekken or Mortal Kombat type games for hours and hourse. And occassionally other games can grab my attention for a few hours here or there. So what's your recommendations for those of you who already have a PSP?

I'd really like a kick-ass role-play/fantasy type game if any exist for it.

Well, so far there is Valkyrie Profile Lenneth (awesome game, very addictive. Not exactly a traditional RPG, but good none the less. By the same team that made Star Ocean)
There is also Tales of Eternia, I've not played a lot of that one, but from what I have played it seems to be pretty cool.

On the horizon, there is Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core, as well as Wild Arms Crossfire (not confirmed for a US release though), and Final Fantasy Tactics (not yet confirmed, but I'm confident that it will show up soon enough).

ugh do NOT touch battlefront 2 with a 20 transforming clown pole. Love the xbox version but the controls do not work on the psp (triangle square cicle X work as your other stick - bumpers fire)

Yep. The PSP version of Battlefront is a trainwreck.

    Hot Shots Golf
    Ridge Racer
    Metal Gear PO
    Popolocrois
    Both Megaman games
    GTA

Just to name a small few.

And don't let anyone tell you there are no good games for the system. Opinions are just that.

I just got my PSP on Christmas, and so far I only have Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. I'm loving it, and its a must-have for huge fans of the series like me.

    my quick list:

    Daxter: good, fun platformer

Wipeout Pure: my fav racer for the PSP, but it turns into a bitch at the later difficulties

Ultimate Ghosts N Ghouls: Best 2D game Ive played in ages. Hard and fun! I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the good ol days.

Me and My Katamari: I loved this, never had PS2, so this is my Katamari fix.

Lumines: fun puzzle game. But now I've mastered it... or at least the singleplayer portion.

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops: Just got this, having alot of fun once I got used to controls and everything. Only MGS I played previous was Twin Snakes, so some things (radar) got some getting used to. Also, I fucking love the cutscenes!

I've heard Battlefront II is one of those where the controls take some getting used to, but once you do get used to them the game is awesome. Now that I've heard that, I'm not sure I'll bother. I tend to not have a tremendous amount of patience with difficult to learn games.

Speaking of non-difficult to learn, any good 3D first person shooters on PSP? Loved Doom and Quake on the PC and would love to have something similar on a portable unit.

QFT. The only reason why people are saying that is because the PSP is damn pricey. Hopefully it'll gain more popularity as the PS3 progresses.

I'd rather use my PSP than a DS any day of the week.

As for my favorite games on the PSP, my list consists of:

-Burnout Legends -- As fast and as fun as the PS2/XBox version
    -Daxter
    -Both GTA games
-Killzone Liberation -- *very* different from the PS2 version. Top down isometric view, similar to Diablo. A great portable rendition!
-LEGO Star Wars II -- Great game. Not Too hard, but LOADS of fun!
-Loco Roco -- Cute, addictive and totally original!
-Lumines 1 & 2 -- Great puzzle games, coupled with awesome music tracks
-Megaman Powered Up -- A classic Capcom 2D sidescroller. A must for any PSP owners. Besides, it is widely available for under $20!
-Metal Gear Ac!d 1 & 2 -- A fresh take on the Metal Gear franchise. Turn based strategy meets Pokemon-style card game, all rolled up into the military world of Snake.
-Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops -- One of the best PSP games out there and a must for any dieahard MGS fans!
-Sonic Rivals -- Great graphics, fast and furious fun. Awesome to show off the PSP's graphics.
    - Tekken Dark Ressurection -- an awesome fighting game
-Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins -- Like others have said, it's an awesome - but hard - sidescroller.
-Wipeout Pure -- Great racing action. Similar to FZero on the Gamecube.
