I'm not sure if this has been followed up on, but has anyone bought a Prowl from a more recent release? Did they ever fix that 'sticky paint' issue on the doors?

I've got a Prowl now that I'm considering painting the doors myself. Of course, it'll be at the cost of losing the "Highway Patrol, POLICE" scribes. (which I could probably get some replacement stickers or decals later) But before I go that route, I wanted to see if the later releases have addressed that problem.

If so, I'll be buying a new one and painting this one I have into some custom character. (hate to waste a good toy otherwise) But I won't bother if the problem is persisting and just fix this one.

So, has anyone noticed a difference between the first releases and now?

I just have one of the early Prowls, but I do notice that on my Silverstreak, there seems to be absolutely no paint rub, which makes me very, very happy. Why Prowl, and worst of all, my Wildrider have paint rub is beyond me, but at least they fixed their problem.

I guess that I have been a fortunate person because my Universe and Henkei Prowls have absolutely no issues. My Universe Prowl is a later release. In terms of replacement stickers, Reprolabel has a set but the only sticker for the doors say police and have the blue/yellow symbol.

No issues with my Universe Prowl. Silverstreak though I don't know yet, because I ordered him from HTS, and hopefully he is as good with the paint as my Prowl.

Recently I picked up a newer Prowl, which seems to be better than an earlier sticky Prowl (can't say if it's 100% 'til it's stood the test of time, I suppose) I might recommend to anyone looking to check the toys in-package to see how glossy-looking the doors/front fenders/roof are. I may be wrong, but that seems to be an indicator with how well coated the paint is, and how likely it is to stay put.

Of course that will probably be contradicted now that I've put that out there. :)

I just picked up an extra TFU Prowl a couple of days ago and his paint still has a problem. I was just holding the figure while giving him some black and silver touchups and now my fingerprints are "stuck" in the roof. I washed my hands before working on him, so it's not an issue of dirty hands. The paint on top just doesn't feel dry.

I don't know if the one I had for a while was good or bad, but it had no paint issues whatsoever.

Classics 2.0 Prowl: Did they ever fix the paint?

I'm sitting here looking at my Classics Prowl and the paint is rubbing off the doors and windows like crazy. Every edge is rubbed right down to clear plastic.

Did they ever fix this "sticky paint" issue in wave 2? Is there any way to tell if a Prowl is wave 1 or wave 2?

Apparently, it is still a hit or miss situation...I have been lucky all summer long...none of mine (Universe and Henkei) had the issues. So I still recommend on really looking at the figure before buying it.

From what I've heard (and experience seems to support), look for one where the paint looks as glossy as possible for best results.

    ... maybe. :)

From what I know a majority of the Universe Prowl's DON'T have the issue, and is an extreme hit or miss situation, though you're more likely to get a good one than a bad one. That and even if you do get a defective one, it's easily fixed with some clear coat.

I haven't noticed any issues on mine and I didn't wait when I found it at Walmart a while ago.

I've noticed the Prowls in the more recent waves have a heavier coating of white on the fenders and doors.
